How long between ceremony and reception ect...

I was watching four wedding s today and one of the brides had her wedding ceremony in Brooklyn but the cocktail hour and reception an hour away in long island. So guest had to drive there in the rain. Do u agree that that is too much to have your guests do? Also are there any really great places in NYC that have ceremony site and reception all in one? I want outdoor maybe and it's a Jewish wedding. Please don't say surf club. I need in NYC. Something very ornate and lush.

Re: How long between ceremony and reception ect...

  • How many people are you trying to accommodate ?
  • Me and my fiance were looking into getting married in Long Island but we decided against it because there is always soo much traffic on that dam belt parkway and most of our guest are in Jersey and Brooklyn. We decided on a hall in Brooklyn which has a beautiful garden area and is up the block from Coney Island Beach. We are starting our ceremony at 6:30 and cocktail hour will follow right after. I don't know how much you are looking into but the Riviera where we are getting married is really reasonable and they only do one wedding at a time.
  • Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, I know its Brooklyn but its gorgeous.  The Boat House in CP only holds 200 max but if I am wrong ask for Stephanie, she is amazing!
  • I was looking into the Botanical Gardens. It is soo beautiful!! That would have been my dream wedding. It's just a little pricy depending on when you have it.
  • Ritz Carlton Battery Park or Bridgewaters? Both are downtown and you can take pictures, etc. in the park.
