Chivari Chairs - Yes or No

I have the budget for Chivari chairs, I am just wondering how comfortable they are?
Also, has anyone done chivari chairs at Meridian Banquets?

Thanks!
Nina

First make sure your vendor allows you to have them - they may not because sometimes they don't have anywhere to store their own chairs if you bring yours in.

check with your reception hall, they may offer them or have a vendor for them. Ours has a vendor and they are cheaper than if I were to rent them myself.
They usually run $5 and up and I've heard they are not very comfy.

at first when we started planning i thought it was ridiculous to spend $8 on a chair....

....but.....since being engaged i pay more attention to detail at weddings we attend, and i have to say, a chivari chair can make a warehouse look like a million bucks.  so, we're giving in and going for it.  (it's funny to say "we", really it's me.  my fiance has zero clue what a chivari chair is.)

i haven't noticed that they're uncomfortable, but as a wedding guest i'm usually on the dance floor or at the bar so maybe i'm not a good source?

    good luck!

I think spending the money on a chair, no matter how nifty it is, is just completely unecessary. Could you use your "chair budget" to splurge somewhere else like food or other decor?

No one will notice the chair aside from maybe another bride. Get yourself some nice chair covers or sashes if you must, but I wouldn't worry about the Chiavari chairs.

YES to chivari chairs!  While people (besides the bride) may not notice them that day, remember they are also in pictures/video, and that you have forever.  We spent the money to get chivari chairs and I am so glad we did - IMO, they made a difference on the total decor.

I, too, love chivari chairs and if I had a budget for them, I def would have tried to get them!  They really do add such a simple, yet elegant look to the room! :)

They are not that comfy but people aren't in them for that long, just dinner then dancing. The other chairs remind me of business conference room chairs at most of the banquet halls but some of them have nice chairs. The ones with the brass handle on the top definitely look a bit dated.

I think these chairs make a room look so much classier. It was unnecessary for our wedding b/c they provided really nice wooden chairs. However, we have to rent 40 chairs for our rehearsal dinner and I'm still trying to convince FI that it's worth the 300 or 400 it will cost to rent them. I've been really reasonable and cost conscious this entire time, so I might get my beautiful chairs!!

I agree, chiaravi chairs are the way to go.  I think chair covers suffocate a room.

I agree with Bimbi...I personally don't think they're worth it.  Yes it looks gorgeous for 0.2 seconds before all of the guests are seated and purses/jackets are hung on the back of the chairs, but then it really doesn't matter.

Our venue had nice wooden chairs and I fretted about getting chair covers.  Even the week of the wedding I second guessed myself and thought maybe I should just splurge and get them.  Honestly no one noticed the chairs and in the end I saved myself over $1K.

As long as your venue's chairs aren't metal folding chairs or something, IMO it's not worth it.

I just met with my DOC yesterday and we talked about these chairs. I would love to have them but chairs are not worth a splurge when we have so much other stuff to still pay off. We are doing chair covers however and they are almost half the price of the chairs.
We did splurge on colored linens which is a wow factor like the chairs.

    THIS.

If it's in your budget, go for it!  A lot of people say, "nobody notices the chairs" but we actually had a lot of people comment how nice they were.

I agree with the above poster. You don't know if nobody noticed the regular chairs because who is going to say anything bad about basic banquet room chairs? You WILL get compliments on the chiavaris. If you look on inspiration boards and see a room with chiavaris versus one without, you can most definitely see the difference. You just have to figure out if its worth it. If you save by not upgrading your chairs, maybe spruce up the room a bit more with either Drapery or lights. My sis used Art of Imagination and it very much set the tone for the reception.

Depending on what type of chairs your venue provides Chivari chairs can be well worth it! They look amazing, but are very uncomfortable. I'm more concerned about the look than comfort, I want people up on the dance floor not sitting all night :)

I really wanted to have these chairs at my wedding. I checked with seven or eight vendors in the area, and the lowest price I found was $6.99 per chair. I opted for the ivory chair covers instead, and went with Chivari at my shower. It would have cost about $1200 for the chairs, which I had, but now that my wedding is over I am soooo glad I did not spend that money on the chairs. You will not regret it if you don't spend the money, I promise! Take the money and spend it on something all of your guests will remember, such as coach bus transportation from wedding to reception, or a photo booth!
