Sparklers

I want to use sparklers for our exit (evening wedding), but my mom is insisting they are illegal, except on the Fourth of July and New Years.  Do sparklers = fireworks?  Also, we are getting married in Browns Point/Tacoma, but I think it's unincorporated Pierce County.

Has anyone used sparklers at their wedding or know anything about it? I know the asnwer is probably that we can't use them, but I'm not ready to give up yet!

I used them as we exited our reception site (Lake Union Cafe) - they are legal, but your venue may have rules as to sparklers.  Our reception site wasn't exactly thrilled that we wanted to use them, but they agreed as long as we designated someone to hand them out and then make sure that they were collected afterwards.  They made for fun pictures!

PM me if you do end up wanting to use sparklers.  I ordered mine online from http://www.sparklersonline.com/ and still have extras that i would give you for free if you wanted to pick them up!

you can use them! Sparklers are like those litle popper... They don't "count" as fireworks, so totally legal year-round.
As long as the venue is cool with it, you're golden.

    yay! we're doing sparklers too!
kaye, if megan doesn't claim them, I would love your extras :)

how many did you get for your guests, and how many were left over?

I am doing this too!  I ordered 96 of the 20" sparklers from sparklersonline.com.  The 36" sparklers just looked awkwardly long in photos, but they seem like the safest bet for getting a great exit photo with a latge group of guests.  I'm interested to hear too how many you ordered, how many guests there were, and how many were left over.  Did they last long enough to take the photos with all lit?

Emy, the extras are all yours :)  I want to see pictures from everyone's wedding though!

Thanks for all the advice ladies, I think we are going to scratch them though.  My mom wants to talk to the venue coordinator, and I am positive she will say no.  Bummer!  Any other ideas for cool pictures in the dark?

I think some of my mom's reluctance might be due to the fact that my sister set her hair on fire when she was pregnant with our little sister and she had to stop, drop, and roll :)

Sparklers weren't allowed at our venue, so we did Ribbon Wands for our sendoff ... like these: http://www.advantagebridal.com/wedding-reception-ribbon-wands.html

My BM actually made them - by stapling different ribbons on extra long tongue depressors (LOL - they were cheaper than dowels she was going to use, and easier!)  They turned out super cute.

I can't remember how man sparklers we ordered, but we ordered quite a few too many.  When you do order them - think about when you are going to use them.  We used ours at the very, very end for our send off and we kind of had to rush to do it (since the limo was waiting) - so i think there were only like 20 - 30 people that were there using the sparklers!
