Cupcakes instead of cake?

So I started looking into cupcakes for my wedding cake and started talking to a couple bakers.  I went to one tasting and they had the consistency of cornbread and were basically awful!  I wasn't sure if anyone has any recommendations for me.  I'm looking to spend probably tops $5 per cupcake.  My wedding is on the North Shore at Groveland Fairways.  Thanks in advance girls!

I know of some places in Quincy (The Cake Spot or Babycakes) that may deliver to your location.  The Cake Spot only charges about $2.00 a cupcake, so the money you spend on delivery might balance out what you were planning to spend anyways.  There's also Frederick's Pastry in North Andover where a friend of mine's sister works that is supposed to have really great cupcakes.  Sorry I don't have any on the North Shore to recommend!

My favorite cupcake is Lyndell's Bakery. I'm not sure what they cost for weddings, but they are delicious. For a more cupcake-specific shop Cakeology's cupcakes are also great.

There is a great cake shop in Haverhill. Cakes by Erin.  she specialized in cupcakes (a nut free shop), and they are AMAZING. Its only about 5 minuted from your venue too.  Here's her site.  cakesbyerin.com/
    Good Luck!

We are getting our cupcakes from The Sugar Plum Bakery in Kingston, which is on the south shore. They are absolutely delicious and the owner Paula is a delight to work with!

Shabby Chic in Windham, NH is amazing - all butter frosting.  I would recommend a tasting at these places, because tastes different.  I had a cupcake from Cakes for Occasions in North andover, and I thought it was terrible (it was a carrot one but had no taste).  The red velvet cupcake from Shabby is the best anywhere.

Cupcake Charlies has great cupcakes (on south shore and in newport) but they are great to work with and the cupcakes are amazing.  They have about 12 standard flavors but a whole lot of flavors of the day that you can choose from
