escort cards question

quick question. i am getting lazy and i don't want to make an escort card for every person. if there are couples, do you think it is ok if I just write: Jon & Julie or do you think it needs to say Jonathan & Julie Smith? Our wedding is a fun, not so formal, summer wedding. The escort cards will be bright blue and green. WDYT?? Single people will have their first and last name.

Doing one per couple is fine (this weekend's wedding had one), but I would put last names. People with unusual last names (like me) might look for that instead of first names.

what about couples who aren't married?? do i need to put John Smith & Jane Doe? It just seems like I may as well just make everyone their own and forget about the short cuts. And we have no two couples with the same variation. :)

Hmmm ... maybe "Jon S. and Julie J."? Funny named people wouldn't be helped out but at least you'd get rid of the problem of figuring out if you're the right Jennifer or Michael.

I would still put last names.  As a Jennifer, I am not certain anything is for me, unless it has my last name.  YOU know that there are no duplicate combinations, but your guests don't, unless they look at every card.  And since you're putting last names on the single people's, it will be more cohesive anyway.

I agree w/ pp.  As a Jennifer, I would assume there is always another one.  And I would automatically look for my last name first, b/c most of the times things are alphabetical by last name.  OK to put unmarried couples on same card.  I think if you sent one invite, you can do one card.

Couples always go together on escort cards in our area (unmarried couples included...you just put the invited guest first). I would put last names because I think people will be confused looking for their alphabetized last names.
