  • I would try looking at a park. Many halls and things like that require that you use either their catering or one off of a list that they approve. I'm getting married in Sept and I know it's a busy month. Try looking at Ault Park or something like that and see if they allow that. Good luck!

Check out The Center - brand new venue to downtown Cincinnati. They don't have preferred vendors and have a gorgeous location. I was in a wedding last October - we stayed at the Westin and walked over from the skywalk after getting ready at the hotel. You can bring in whomever to cater and there are no commission or catering fees on top of your food charged from the venue. I would assume availability would be fairly open as they just opened in October of 2011.

  • St Elizabeth in Norwood! I have pictures in my bio!

  • We are having our wedding at VOA in the Ronald Reagan Lodge. They have a list of "preferred" caterers, but if you don't want to use one of them, you just have to fill out a form.

  • Mulhauser Barn in West Chester allows you to bring in your own food and beverages. They do have a list of preferred caterers, but it is pretty extensive. Plus, you get the rental for the entire day starting around 8 am.

I didn't go with them because I potentially had too many people. Also, there is no air condition or heat and they only rent it out between certain months, but I'm certain September is included.

  • We are getting married in June at the Leapin' Lizard Gallery in Covington. It's an old church that's been renovated into a beautiful, but unique event space! We fell in love the first time we saw it! You can bring in your own caterers and they have been great to work with thus far. PM me if you want any add'l info or pics!  The place fits a max of 150 people fyi
  • Thank you for all your help!

I love St.Elizabeth's(my first choice) but sadly they aren't doing receptions anymore:(

  • Are you sure about St Elizabeth's? I was there a coupld of months ago, and they were definitely still booking for weddings. I know they still had some availabilities in September and October too.
  • i called the director at st.e's and they aren't booking weddings anymore:( probably just honoring already booked receptions...

i can't believe St. E's isn't booking anymore. We are getting married there in October. Did you talk to Jeremy?

We are also doing a DIY wedding and looked at Memorial Hall (next to Music Hall). It's beautiful, but we were too many people to fit there. They let you bring your own alcohol and caterer.

We also checked the Irish Cultural Center in Columbia Tusculum. It's pretty new and little know, but it's a pretty space (it's a really old building and it used to be a school). They don't usually do weddings, but they have plenty of room and they were open to it when we talked to them.

You should also try the American Sign Museum. They are moving locations and renovating an old parachute factory that should be done soon and it's a really fun place. They let you bring your own alcohol and caterer too.

Anderson Center is cheap and lets you do DIY, but it's not that pretty.

I hope that helps! We spent a lot of time looking at venues, so let me know if you have any questions!

  • Lake Lyndsay Lodge allows all catering to be external! Good luck :)
  • B&B Riverfront Hall in Miamisburg is nice.  They let you bring whatever you want, you decorate and have the room for the whole day.  They were easy to work with too.  It isn't anything fancy but great for a budget wedding!
