Pre-wedding Parties

Bridal shower brunch or cocktail party??

I like the idea of a brunch, but I also like the idea of an evening cocktail party with appetizers for just the girls.  Everyone could put on a cute party dress and have a night out.  What's your opinion?  Also, any ideas are greatly appreciated!

I'm also interested in doing a brunch and would love to hear other people's thoughts on that!

Ask whoever is hosting your shower for a brunch- or hint towards that and then you can do the other thing for your bachelorette party.

The cocktail party sounds fun if you're going to have mostly younger women there. If grandma is attending, you'd need to make sure she'd feel comfortable in a cocktail atmosphere.

These sound like two very different events here.  Are you throwing this party or are you the bride here?  If the latter, did the hosts ask your preference between the two?

I am the bride and yes, they asked for my input.  They will be handling all the details, but would like to know which type I'd prefer....I'm having trouble choosing.

My MOH hosted a brunch for mine, and it was absolutely beautiful. It was the timing that worked best with our schedules (the weekend of my shower, I was only in the town where my girls live for two days, and already had plans the rest of the weekend.)

I loved having a brunch shower, as many of the ladies stayed to mingle for quite awhile, and didn't feel pressed to leave because it was getting late, etc.

Would only the brunch be a shower, and the cocktail party would be more like a bach party?  It sounds like the cocktail party wouldn't include the mothers or other older relatives - is it important to you that they be included in something?

I am having a couples wedding shower mimosa brunch.  We are probably having 60+ people and a few flying in from out of state.  I personally love the brunch idea.  I do agree with some of the posts that if its a group of younger women then cocktail party would be great; however, if its more than that and more older women or you have a lot of people coming in from out of state, consider the brunch instead.

Brunch! I had a brunch shower that was so much fun. It was buffet style with tons of goodies: pancakes, french toast, hash browns, sausage bacon, etc. There were also pitchers of mimsas and champagne!

It was very causal and fun to mingle with everyone. I think it went from 11-1? Maybe 11-2?  I loved it! You always have the bach party for the night life. I wish I had an excuse to throw a brunch now.
