Rounded up the RSVPs - Finally!

Phew. It took two days - but FI, my mom, and I finally rounded up all the RSVPs.

70 total guests to our wedding.

We needed 75 to get extra perks
1)free hotel room that night (250 value..expensive hotel!)
2) cheese display
3) Champagne toast
4) chair covers

so..we're just going to pay for 75 in case extra people show up..:p

I feel so much relief to have a final number! Took lots of texting and calling - but we did it!

This is what I am dreading... having to hunt down people who don't RSVP. I bet you are so relieved now that this is done.

Yeah - FI is upset though.

Apparently his mom isn't coming. Her husband - who isn't even related to FI - is coming. But not her.

She has 3 dogs. Who knows how many birds - 10? Turtles. And she's all upset because nobody will watch her animals while she's here on the wedding. (They live in Nebraska, wedding is in Ohio). I offered to pay for a sitter or a boarding service.

Well - I am ANGRY because FSIL is not coming nor is her husband - and neither of them will offer to go over and feed the flippin' animals. In fact, they both said no when asked. FMIL is pretty much paying all their bills because FSIL's husband doesn't work!

So - two of his sisters will be here and his mom's husband..but not his mom. ???

Thats awesome that the count is in. Such a relief! Now you can move on to other stuff!

As for the FSIL that is complete CRAP! I would be completely annoyed! I get that there is a lot of animals but at the same time if they cant come to the wedding its the LEAST they can do for her so she can come. Selfish!

yay For the RSVPs boo for the rest of it...why didn't her husband agree to stay with the animals so she could see her son get married? very weird and what a sucky daughter she has.

I'm so glad you got all your RSVP's in! That stinks that FSIL is being ridiculous about watching her mom's pets so she can see her son get married. Why doesn't her husband stay with them so FMIL can come?

wow!!! that is pretty rude!!! Can't they kennel the dogs for the amount of days they'll be at the wedding?? They don't have any friends to come in and take care of them?

My aunt is like that though, where she needs to make sure her animals are taken care of!! and she won't be at my wedding. it sucks, but thats alright I suppose

Who knows. I offered to Kennel them - I'll pay a pet sitter from a reputable company to come in. If for nothing else, so that FI is happy.

To those asking about FMIL's husband - I have no idea. Apparently he has had his heart set on coming to this wedding since they got the STD - and said he's coming no matter what. I don't think he's a big fan of the animals anyway.

I'm just annoyed that FSIL can't watch the freakin' animals...:: sigh :: just go over twice a day and feed them and let them out. That's lal..

BrightFireFly- wow. I have no words. I hope FI's mom changes her mind! How many people did you need to contact in order to get their RSVPs?? It sounds like you didn't invite at least 100 people or something and yet you STILL had to round up the RSVPs?! I'm really annoyed now, as you can see we invited 256 people, I really hope we don't have to contact too many people to get their RSVps.

We invited about 85 people..and we had to call FI's ENTIRE family (including his sisters), EVERY person (-2) he works with (which was twentyish of the people), and some of my former co-workers. So..I'm glad we had a small guest list and it was manageable. It only took me two days.

PS: Any advice on how to cheer FI up? I pretty much have no words for it.

"oh - sorry your mom can't make it.." yknow..it's sort of a big deal..

I've tried paying to board the dogs, paying a pet sitter, suggesting we could go visit Omaha after the wedding (which is so not the same)...

I'm tempted to call FSIL and ask her why the hell she won't watch the animals..I'd even pay her to watch them....or better yet - abuela should call. They all listen to her. Hmm..

</div><div>I would never leave my animals unless I knew for sure, 100% that they were taken care of properly. One of my dogs is an epileptic and needs meds every 8 hours. Besides, I would not put him in a kennel in case that could stress him out. I've lived on farms and had horses on the property. Again, would not/could not ever leave without knowing without a doubt the animals are properly cared for. I liken it to how some parents see no problems having nannies and chauffers while they carry on as if they don't have kids, while others refuse to ever leave their kids with a babysitter they barely know. I personally would never board or hire a pet sitter I don't know. Thank God for my parents who are exactly like me and will take care of my animals while we go on our HM. I love my brother, but I wouldn't be able to leave my dogs or horses in his care. </div><div>

So sorry about FSIL behavior. I'd definitely have abuela call her. If its anything like my family, no one would dare say no to grandma! Congrats on the RSVPs though!

Yay for having tracked down your RSVP's. So awful about your FMIL not being able to make it to the wedding. She needs to stop paying her daughters bills seeing that she can't do her a favor.
