XP from DIY: DIY Flower Centerpiece Help

My plan has been to use wine bottles as vases... and to get flowers in bulk through a costco or fiftyflowers.com or something like that... the general directions I've seen have said you have to get the flowers a few days beforehand to give them time to "come back to life"...

my wedding is on a sunday... but it's 2 hours away so we are going over on Saturday afternoon... dropping the centerpeices and stuff off at the vendor and then staying in a hotel...

so my question is really... will this work?  if i get the flowers on like weds or thurs... then keep them however they need to be kept (probably cold i'm guessing) and then sat morning put them in the wine bottle vases wtih water... pack them up and transport them and then leave them at the venue sat to sun... will they be okay come sunday??? or will they be dead and wilting???

if it helps the wedding is end of sept in northern pa... so mountain area but could still potentially be warm out...

i was thinking gerber daisies because i hear they're "sturdy" but i'm open to other flowers (nothing too pricey though).

I think that it will work, but I would do a test run. Go to the grocery store and buy a few of the type of flowers you'll be using. Do some mock-ups and see how long it takes them to wilt. I did that and it took over a week for my roses & carnations to go bad. As long as they have plenty of water and you've mixed in some flower food, they should be good.

I got my flowers delivered on Thursday for our Saturday wedding.  When the arrived I cut the stems underwater and placed them in a bucket of cool water.  Our wedding was in Ocotber, so we kept the house cool and the lights low.  On Friday I assembled the centerpieces into their vases (also did bouquets and corsages).  We delivered them on Saturday morning.  They looked perfect.

As a floral designer I tell you this.  Gerbera's are unpredictable, if they collapse, they never come back.  they don't like to be out of water, put them in about a inch and half of water, they don't like deep water.  put them in warm water.  Get enough to replace if necessary.  In my experience the larger one's last longer.  Bunches Bob, floral designer
