VENUE: LA MAISON CREOLE

Has anyone heard of the reception venue La Maison Creole in Harvey. I am thinking about booking there. They are very reasonable and offer you alot of customizations. I got a good vibe when inquiring about their packages. I am going to see the venue this weekend. Any reviews are welcome! Thanks

I've never been to a wedding there, but I have been there for a school function (YEARS ago). It was quite nice in there so it's definitely worth checking out.

Thanks! I was quite nervous because it seems no one has ever heard of it. However, thats what makes me like it even more.

It's a very intimate place. Not too overwhelming like most places are.

When you say intimate, do you mean small and close together?

It's not small to me. You can fit up to 200 people in there comfortably. Lots of space to move around. Intimate as in not massive like the huge rooms at The Balcony or the Sheraton.

I've attended several weddings and a company holiday party at La Maison Creole.  The food is good, the staff is helpful and there is plenty of space if you're hosting a 200 guest or less event.  There are two rooms for wedding receptions, I believe. If you are having a daytime wedding with 50-75 guests, they have a really lovely smaller room with a lot of natural light and an outdoor area.  The larger ballroom is nice as well.  For the price, the venue is definitely worth checking into.

The only reason we did not go with them for our wedding is because we wanted an outdoor ceremony and we needed a bigger space than their outdoor area could accomodate.  Other than that, we had no complaints.  Good luck with your visit this weekend!

Thanks! you guys are surely easing my mind with this.... I heard it used to be a restaurant, and I'm just scared its not going to give off the wedding reception vibe. Oh well, I go to look at it tomorrow morning. I will keep you posted!

UPDATE: So I went to visit the venue this past weekend, and I was blown away. I loved it.. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. I suggest that you schedule a tour to go see it. The outside looks very nice, but is deceiving to what you get on the inside. There's a seperate bridal suite and like a secret room behind the bridal suite for the bride... (I loved that!) I loved how it was a big facility but still very elegant and intimate. We are definetely booking with La Maison now.
    NIKKIQ83 thanks a bunch!

I'm having my wedding there. The crew is awesome since they are family owned. Casie the booker is the owner's daughter-in-law, and she is so wonderful. She and her husband were married there so they understand all the details. Her husband handles some of the catering. My wedding size is 300+ so I will get the entire facilty which include the ballroom, sunroom, patio, and upstairs. I've been to a few showers there, and I love it. I can't say enough about how awesome they are!

OMG! I looked at your profile pics... we went to Cabrini together! When I went I met with Courtney, she's also having her wedding there and offered to take care of the decor for me. I was so excited because she knew exactly what I wanted. We want to have a 250+ ceremony to get the entire facility unfortunately our budget does not allow it. However, I am just as excited to get the ballroom, upstairs area, and seperate room for food. Who knows, maybe the parentals will work out something to get the entire facility. This weekend I'm going to pick up my tasting box... I am so excited

What is the pricing like for their packages?  I'm from Baton Rouge, but HATE all of the venues around here, and I know things are quite a bit more expensive once I venture into the New Orleans area.
  • edited December 2011

There are different prices depending on the size of your guest list. I suggest calling them. They are really quick when it comes to emailing you the price lists.
