NWR Course selection UGH!

I have never been so glad to be "just doing an internship!"

My school is currently in the middle of course selection for the spring and they're really messing up the students in the year behind me.  They double-scheduled classes that are required for our program, so people are scrambling to go Independent Instructions, but professors can only do 3 Independent Instructions per semester, so if a student gets there too late then they're out of luck. And they didn't adequately plan for how many students would be taking each class, so they got filled way to fast and had to move them to bigger classrooms so more people who needed the classes could register for them.

I am soooo glad I don't have to deal with that stress on top of my final year of grad school on top of a wedding to plan!

Re: NWR Course selection UGH!

  • Course selection always stresses me out. I have a plan, and I have to stick with it to graduate, so if I can't get into just 1 or 2 classes on time, my whole plan gets screwed up and I could have to spend another term in class. Ugh. Luckily, I've got my winter term figured out (yay!), and I only need to pick one more for spring.

  • Crap like this is why I love my advisor, he works really hard to make sure that I am going to graduate on time. He has even changed program requirements for me. But I think a lot of people don't get awesome advisors, which is sad.

  • Beth, I know basically no one will an awesome advisor. I am my own personal advisor (basically). I put together this class plan myself based on all of the things I need to accomplish, then got it cleared with my good advisor. She was amazed at how well I'd worked it out. I'm in a joint honours with co-op program, so I technically have 2 advisors and a field co-ordinator, but only 1 of them is any good.
