I woke up this morning with a cold sore :( mind you the last time i got one was almost 8 years ago in highschool.. I have 6 days till my wedding and my worst nighmare has come true.. I am devastated.. I cant imagine having to greet all my guest and what my pictures will look like with this stupid thing on my lip.. If anyone has any tipe to help it heal I would appreciate it. Yes I called my doctor but she just told me the usual.. TIA I really need a miracle!!!

I just got one the other day and yes, those things are horrible!!!  Have your doctor give you a prescription for Famvir.  They are pills that work great.  You can buy the cream Abreva over the counter but that doesn't work as fast.  Good luck!!!

Did you tell your doctor your wedding is so close?  Do you have another doctor (a dermatologist maybe) that you could go to?  Being so close to the wedding I wouldn't mess around.

In the meantime, I'd call your pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to recommend something strong and OTC.

Definitely get a prescription as mentioned...

then I'd use a topical (Abreva) along with it; that's what I've done in the past & the combo of the 2 will have it gone in no time.

*HUGS* Please try to not stress about this (I know, easier said than done).

You have 6 days, not 1, so you do have time to make this go away.  I would follow the advice the other girls have given.

My bet is it will be gone or substantially subdued by next week.  Plus, you have a profesisonal makeup artist who will hide that thing into oblivion.  You will not have to walk around worrying about it.

2 Gm Valtrex pills 12 hours apart x2, Acyclovir ontment 5%, and cover-up make-up the day of your wedding. You will be fine. Try to relax because stress will aggravate it.

    Ditto Valtrex!! Get some asap.

I get cold sores too, and if you start taking Valtrex as soon as you feel one coming on, you will NEVER even see it.  It may be a bit late for that now, but at least you can keep it from getting any worse and help it heal faster.

    Good luck!

Call your doctor. They can give you a prescription that will clear it up quickly!

EDIT: nevermind, I clearly didn't read your entire post. Sounds like your DR sucks!  As another poster mentioned - Abreva works well too.
