FH and i are talking about a 2014 wedding date... when should we have an engagement party?

Yes, only someone can throw you an e-party, it is rude to throw your own.

yes. Congratulations, and listen to Lucy. Also, you don't <em>have</em> to have an e-party. I had a couple people offer to throw us one, but never felt it neccessary. If someone offers to throw one and you want it, that would be ok.

People say you should have it 6 months after your proposal but honestly it really doesn't matter. Me and FH got engaged in September and are having our engagement party in June since my parents needed time to save. Our wedding isn't until August of 2013.

Don't think it really matters. I know of people that have done them within a month or two and I also know of people that have waited 6 months or more to do one!
