Etsy...WTF?!

Sorry to take over the board today. So I had put in an alchemy request about a month ago for a hair fascinator. I posted the following two pics:

and got the following response from a seller " can make the EXACT same hair piece as in your picture #2. I already have the feathers and the pearls and crystals. I can do the twining of the pearls/crystals in silver to math the stiching in your dress. I can also uploas pictures as I am working on it so you can make adjustments as needed."   So I paid but then for the next 3 weeks she didn't send me anything. The completion date was supposed to be 2/2. So I send her a message last week for a status and she sends me pics of beads and says "which ones do you want me to use?" Um, shouldn't this part already be done? Then I tell her my choice and hear nothing for another week. So I follow up again today and this is what I get "Yes, I am finished except I need to put an alligator clip on the back. We are snowed in and I won't be able to get out until tomorrow or wed. I have attached the pics of the piece below, please let me know if there is anything you want me to add, or take away. I made a different design, please let me know if you like it.If everything is up to your standards I will mail it out this week "  ANd this is what she sends me

This is NOTHING like my request! Can I ask for my money back or do I have to let her make another attempts at it?

That's exactly why I have never used alchemy requests - I find sellers who actually make what I want on a regular basis. Anyone can go in and respond to an alchemy request saying that they can make you something, but they may not have the right materials or know what they are doing... Sorry you had a bad experience!!!

Oh no! I have had a hard time with Alchemy requests too! I agree with BostonBride, I tend to search out the vendor who makes exactly what I need now and pay a little more. I'm so sorry! I would tell the seller that you are not happy and that you sent example pictures and you would either like your money back or have them try to make something that is exactly like they had promised.

I was very nervous about doing an Alchemy request for my hairpiece, but I totally lucked out. Use this seller:

    www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5781206">EmiciBridal

She did an AMAZING job and made a hair comb that was exactly what I was looking for.

    Good Luck

I did an alchemy request for an Etsy seller who ended up making something I did not want AT ALL - The seller that I bought from refunded me 100%

Glad to get some input on etsy. I was considering having my cake topper made by someone there just to save myself some time... but looks like it will be another thing on my list of things to make (gladly all the other projects for the wedding are almost finished). My wedding is in 2 months I can't risk someone from etsy getting it wrong and taking too long.
