Photobooth question

So we have our photographer until 11 pm and I'm trying to figure out what to do with all of her time - there's only so many pictures of guests dancing, etc that can be taken before it gets excessive. She suggested doing a DIY photobooth. She's done them in the past but it's not a service she normally offers. As such, the photos would not be printed immediately on site and given to guests unless we buy a photo printer and the paper (which I don't want to do as we wouldn't have much use for it afterwards). We'd get them back with the rest of our photos and could send the files to the guests or create an online album where they can download the pictures.

I have thought about making a sign to be displayed at the photobooth that photos would be sent to the guests (or available on a website with the URL listed). Is that weird or does it makes sense?

Re: Photobooth question

  • I think it could work. We had a photobooth and the guests got two strips--one for them, one for us.  I wanted them to glue our strip onto a guestbook page and write a message. I made a little sign explaining what to do and everyone got it.  I think yours will be even more simple.

Also, our photobooth pics are online and even though they had copies, the gusts were looking at them online so they could see everyone's.  So I don't think that will be a downside, or anything.
  • Personally I would probably be less interested in the photo booth if I had to go online weeks later to see the pictures.  To me most of the fun is seeing the pictures instantly and taking them home.

Can you have your photographer start earlier in the day so she isn't going as late?  Then maybe get more pics of getting ready and beforehand?  If not I think the photobooth thing would work, it just might not be as popular with the guests as a typical one.

  • Like Beachy said, I wouldn't be interested in a photo of me so long after the wedding. And if they're going on your wedding website, would the guests have to purchase them? I don't really see the value there.

Absolutely not. We have full printing rights with all our photos and they photographer already ok'd this.

  • Yeah, I answered based on my own photog/DJs, who had our pics up immediately. How fast is your photog's turnaround? Ours were done in about 10 days, so I think that would be okay. But if it's weeks and weeks, I agree with the others, you'll lose everyone's attention.
  • Her turn around time is about 4 weeks, so maybe it's not the best idea. I like the idea of having her come earlier in the morning for hair and makeup, so maybe I'll talk to her about that.

  • It seems like a fun idea, and definitly something that could keep people busy if they're drinking. It might also be fun to send out the picture of family and friends as xmas gifts or things later on in the year. Plus photobooths are so expensive this seems like a fun and easy way to get the funny pictures without breaking the bank.
  • It would also be unique to send the picture of the person from the photobooth with your thank you cards. Then they get a hard copy. But I would also put them up on a website.

</div><div>What I meant is: if a guest wants the picture they took in your photobooth, would they have to purchase the print? Instant photobooths give you a free picture. This photobooth, they would have to pay to get their picture?</div><div>
</div><div>Full printing rights =/= free prints
