Thoughts about this RD dress

What do most brides wear to the rehearsal dinner? Do they wear a white or ivory dress or outfit? Or would it be OK to wear a dress in one of your wedding colors? I would probably never wear a white/ivory dress again (pale skin), but I might wear a seafoam dress again, which is one of my favorite colors (no surprise it's one of my wedding colors and bridesmaid dress color). I even got seafoam/mint flats for the big day because I would likely wear them again (love love love them!).

So what do Knotties think of this dress for the bride at the Rehearsal Dinner? Am I going to look like a bridesmaid?

I wore jeans and a top. I think you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in and that fits with the level of formality of where your RD will take place. I wouldn't try to coordinate your clothing to the wedding colors, but if it's a color you like and would wear anyway, go for it.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Wear whatever you like!  I've seen both and I found an adorable champagne dress last Sept that I bought for my RD dinner dress (getting married in May).  When I found it I knew it would be perfect and because it was end of season, it was on sale (score!).
  • You should wear whatever you want and are comfortable in.  I do think that dress is really cute though!

I wore a black and white (though mostly black) dress. I have been to super casual rehearsals where everyone was in jeans or shorts. You definitely don't have to wear white/ivory unless you want to. I preferred dressing up since we were the guests of honor (so to speak), but many of our guests dressed very casually and it was fine.

ETA: In regards to the dress you posted, I would just make sure it wasn't too short. I would find a really tight, really short mini-dress a little inappropriate/awkward for a rehearsal, esp. if it was in a church. Otherwise it's cute! You could always put a little shrug over it.

  • I agree with pp about this dress being cute but a little clubby. Maybe save it for a night out on the honeymoon.

  • There is some great advice here.  My wedding date is in a year, but I'd wear something comfortable and cute.  Honestly, I'm probably going to wear a summer dress.  Just find something that fits your style and have fun with it.
  • I'm just going to wear a skirt and blouse. Wear what you're comfortable with, as all the PPs said. On the dress, to me it looks like something to wear for a party in your backyard that is SUPER casual, not for your reception (super tight and short). But it's your reception, and you can wear what you want. :)

  • I'm using my RD as a great excuse to buy a cute dress (which I will pack on my honeymoon too.), but it is true, you can wear whatever you want. I like the ruffle top dress, personally.  I think its adorable.
