Can you recommend..

... a small photo printer?

We are doing a DIY photobooth at our reception and I would like a compact printer to be able to take with. I'm not looking to spend a ton since we won't use it often after this, but I'd like the quality of the pictures to be decent.

Any suggestions?

Re: Can you recommend..

  • My dad has a Kodak one and it is a PITA. It's slow, loud, expensive to use, and the photo quality isn't that great. It only prints 4x6 or smaller. His is a few years old, but price it out, a regular printer might do as good a job for cheaper.

[QUOTE]Brandi, what is a DIY photobooth? We used to have a Kodak printer at work and I will second Pirate, it was a total PIA and crappy. We have HP wireless printers at home. They're fine.

There is photobooth software that you can get for a personal computer. Basically it is downloaded, and then you attached a USB button and a printer to it. The USB button is the only thing needed, so you can cover the rest of the computer, aside from the screen and camera. The printer then prints out the series of pictures (either 3 or 4) as a set of two strips on a 4X6 sheet of printer paper.

  • I wonder if it would be more economical to go with the Fuju Instants (click) instead of getting a new printer + toner + paper?

Hmm. I didn't realize they made those. I'm a little concerned with someone (one of the kids)picking it up and then taking tons of useless pictures and then it not being there for the rest of the night. Our venue has a little booth area in the corner that will work well with sitting down and seeing what is being taken (a previous bride was successful) so that is why we were going the route we were.

  • Damn kids ruin everything, I tell ya. :)

In that case, the Canon Pixmas (click) seem to have have decent reviews and are reasonably priced. We have a Canon at home which has been pretty terrific for over 3 years now.

I'm going to have to look at home at my printer and see if it has a slot for smaller paper. It probably does now that I've looked at that picture, and I guess I can just take that.

    Thank you for the suggestions!

  • I had a canon and I loved it! I'll never buy another HP product again for as long as I live!

  • We've been happy with a KODAK PHOTO PRINTER. Prints up to 5x7.
