Ditto PP, definitely give us an area of the state, and a price range, to help us out.

Here's a thread I bookmarked a while back, with places that are generally under $115pp including tax and tip: http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/local-wedding-boards_new-jersey_venue-recommendations?plckFindPostKey=Cat:Local%20Wedding%20BoardsForum:90Discussion:e62b065a-b5c7-48af-9900-e005586cb4c2Post:e952ab14-fd99-4df8-b7ff-521076612593

Do you have a date in mind? If you can do a January, February or March date, those are typically the lowest-priced months of the year.

Saturday night is the most expensive date, generally, so you might save money if you book a Friday or Sunday night instead. Saturday receptions from 12-5 p.m. are usually discounted, too.

If you can plan in about 6 months or less, a lot of halls offer a short-term date discount. I know that The Tides Estate and Bridgewater Manor do this and they list the dates on their website.

Also consider restaurants instead of reception halls. Someone on this board had a very nice reception at The Restaurant in Hackensack a while back, and the Maggiano's locations are supposed to be reasonably priced as well.

Other general suggestions: you don't need extravagant flowers and stationery (you don't need Save the Dates, matching placecards and menu cards, etc. - all you really need are invitations); keep the bridal party small to save on flowers, gifts, limo space, rehearsal dinner size (my husband and I had two attendants each); remember that people will never know who designed your gown or how much your veil or shoes cost; nix anything you don't need and you probably won't miss it, and remember that little purchases add up (aisle runner, garter, petals, guestbook, Soon to Be Mrs. Smith hoodies, etc.).

I agree with all the points made by mbc. I know I definitely cut back in areas that weren't so important to FI and I such as invitations, STDs, etc. Also, I did get a florist but I was open to using greenery, flowers that were in season and local to the area to make it less expensive. But definitely provide an area and price? The recommendations will be better and more in line with what you are thinking about.

I want to spend less then $100 a person if i can. I know the short notice prices are def good, my brother did that and got a place at half the price. Prob is im not living in NJ right now so im planning a NJ wedding from another state.  Im thinking North Jersey, and possibly Oct or Nov

The Greycliff is really nice and very low cost for what you get.  The only thing I recommend is if you are planning a wedding in Northeast NJ (NYC area) check the schedule for the Meadowlands.  Football season makes it pretty crazy around that area.  That's one of the reasons we didn't go for there since we planned a year and a half early and didn't have the football schedule yet.   But it's really great for the price.

Ditto the Graycliff.  I'm getting married there but in March.  I wanted nothing to do with football season!

Try The Reception Center at Saint Clement in Matawan, and The Forge in Woodbridge, if those weren't mentioned already.

Do you know how many people you'd want to host?

October and November are sometimes higher-priced because they're still within the peak season. Would you be willing to do a December wedding? You could probably cut the price down a lot by just pushing it back a few weeks.

Any chance you could swing a weekday wedding, like a Thursday night before a long weekend? Weekday weddings are SUPER cheap.

I'm also looking for an inexpensive venue around $80/person including tax and tip. I recently looked at the Forge in Woodbridge. THey are having a $55/person ~ $70 w/tax and gratuity for 2011. The hall was ok but you do get what you pay for. It definitely needs to be updated, but I also didn't see it set up for a wedding. THe room just had chairs in it. But, the price is extremely reasonable.

I also heard that La Fortuna Catering in Fairview, NJ is very reasonable. I will be in touch with them shortly and will post any information I receive.

    Good Luck and Congrats!

We got married at the Bridgewater Manor and it is definately in your price range. They only charge 8% for gratuity so that helps alot.
