nervous! e-pics on tuesday!

First of all, I have no idea what were wearing....none! And running out of time to come up with options! Now technically, Tuesdays e-pics are a "dry run" of sorts....FI's FSIL is a photographer and were doing this more for fun than anything else, but if the results are good, then ill run with it and that's one more thing checked off my list! I already feel behind...I'm probably the last Sept bride to be doing e-pics! Any advice? What do you wish you had done that you didn't? Wardrobe suggestions? Anything at all to calm my nerves?

  • Don't worry, you're not last! I still have to do mine and I am also a bit nervous. I'm a little shy in front of the camera and I'm not really sure what to expect. I'll be watching to see others' advice, but not having actually done one, I would say definitely wear something that you'll feel comfortable in. For example, if you have a dress that is really cute, but that you think might be too short, too low cut or have something about it that makes you self-conscious, I would choose something else. The more comfortable you are, the more confident you'll feel in front of the camera!

  • Wear something you are comfortable in and a lot of photographers suggest layering (cardigan over a top or dress, etc.) That's one thing I wish I had done. If there are any props or sentimental things you want to incorporate into your photos don't forget them. But most importantly don't stress and have fun!! I'm sure the pictures will come out great!!

  • Like PPs said: the most important thing is to be comfortable! Of course you want to look good too, but if you guys are comfortable, then it'll reflect in your pics. I wore my hair curly (something I don't do often) and it was so humid that day that my hair is crazy! I hate my hair in almost every shot. Also, it's going to be weird trying to "act natural" in front of the camera so just try to focus on each other and make each other laugh. Eventually, you'll start to forget that they're (or she) is there and you'll feel more relaxed. =) Have fun!!!
  • I felt totally awkward during our engagement photos and 90% of them turned out really well.  My suggestions in terms of attire would be:
    1.  Don't wear white, especially if you are pasty like me
    2.  Don't wear jackets, they can bunch and look weird.
    3.  Dress to match, but not TOO much
    4.  Avoid crazy patterns
    5.  Be comfrotable
    6.  Think about thinks like visible bra straps, panty lines, and your shirt pulling up in the back.

Be sure to smile!  Have fun!

  • i haven't done mine yet either!  we have a tentative date scheduled for sunday, 1/22, but it'll depend upon weather.  a good friend of mine is doing them, so if we have to reschedule, it'll be okay.

i haven't decided what to wear yet, either, but i figured it'll be something i'm comfortable in and that i think looks good on me

i'm excited and looking forward to it!

  • Thank you ladies, as of right now, I think were both wearing nice jeans and sweater (his layered over a button up because I like that look!). Id like to wear a dress, nut even paired with a cardi, I think its going to be too cold. Not a huge deal though, the pictures should still convey our usual style and that would be jeans! My next issue is my hair...I have long (almost to my butt) thick brown hair. My day to day is a ponytail or messy bun cause I cannot for the life of me do much else with my hair. I'm getting my ends trimmed Tuesday morning so I'm half considering just paying a little extra to have the stylist pin half up and curl the rest because I oh so love my hair like that (as does FI!) Since humidity wont be an issue, I think this should work.. .fingers crossed! I'm a photographer myself, so being in front of the camera is just eek! I think it'll help since it'll just be us and FSIL and I've known her 10+ years...but I'm just so self hating about pictures with me in them!

  • I know what you mean, I was pretty scared before our e-pics too! We took some e-pics with a friend of ours who is trying to build her portfolio but we also have not taken ours with our actual photographer yet. One thing that PP suggested that I totally agree with is if theres something unique about you guys, try to find a way to tie it in. My FI is a Red Sox fan and I am a Yankee fan. Some of the best pictures we got were of us in our hats just joking around. I love them :) So just try to relax (even though I did feel totally awkward in the beginning) and above all enjoy the moments. Good luck! Cant wait to see them if you post them.

  • We toyed with the idea of him wearing a Browns jersey and me wearing Steelers, but I'm not exactly a football fan, just happened to have been raised in a steelers household.

  • I agree with PPs, make sure you are comfortable, especially as far as temperature goes! I did half our photos in normal clothes and half in my jacket, and as soon as I had the jacket on I looked much more relaxed than in some of the later photos without it.

I beg to differ with a PP, white can work great depending on what colours look on you and what your surroundings/feel are. Also, it depends on the jacket. Fitted jackets can photograph well, looser fitting ones can bunch, so it depends on the jacket you are wearing...

I did half our photos in a white jacket and they are in my bio if you want to see any of them...

We just got ours done on Thursday. I asked our photographer what I should wear (we went to hs together so I felt comfortable asking) and because we were doing an outdoor shoot she suggested reds and browns. Because it was cold I wore a blue jacket as well. She was right! She just sent us the proofs and the reds and browns really do pop!

Edit: I just read about the jacket debate. I wore a fitted jacket and some of my favorite pictures from the shoot are of me in it.
