Order of Reception

Hey Girls
I was reading one of the other message boards and thought I'd post the topic here since south asian weddings aren't exactly the same as 'western' weddings.

What is the order of your reception?

So for example.

...after cocktail hour...

Bridal Party, Parent entrance
Bride/Groom entrance
first dance
Cake cutting
Some sort of program (performed dances & speeches)
etc etc

I'd like to hear other people's ideas :)

    My wedding isn't for another year but from what we have planned, its

    cocktail hour
    bride and groom entrance
    first dance
    toasts
    cake cutting
    meet and greet at tables
    brides surprise to groom
    grooms surprise to bride
    garter toss
    dance dance dance
    then bon voyage!

    Hi Bhanu and Anuj

    I just sat down with our venue lady last friday and sorted the itinerary out for our reception, its sorta fresh in my mind. She is going to send me a typed final copy soon..but here is what I remember so far
    Cocktail hr (during this time I will be taking pics with FI and Bridal and groom party)
    Introduced Bridal and groom party followed by fam then us
    then our first dance
    then speeches from grooms side and toast (his friends 5-6min)
    followed by a performance by bridesmaid and groomsman
    salad/appetizer course served
    then second speech by bride side (my sister and bridesmaids together 5-6 min)
    Dinner served
    then fam dance, I am doing a mother and daughter dance and also dj will call all mothers and daughters on the floor
    then cake cutting
    cake served with dessert
    Dance floor open to everyone so they can dance their butts off till 12am!

    @jnsaini Interesting...I like that the cake cutting is a little later on in the evening :)  I think of all the weddings I've been to (In Toronto) the cake cutting is done immediately after the first dance...and the first dance happens immediately after the B/G entrance

    @trueleo818 - you're doing the garter toss...cute! (do you plan on wearing a lengha?) What about the bouquet toss?
