Anyone Have any info on the KI Convention Center?

I am looking into the KI Convention Center as a site for my reception, and hopefully for my ceremony as well.  I am wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this place and how it was.

Thanks!

The Hotel Sierra is GORGEOUS.  We are staying there on our wedding night!! But, the KI center is not so pretty.  The space is nice, and location is good, but the carpets are bright purple with orange and yellow triangles.  I'm not the biggest fan!

I did hear the KI Center MAY be redoing their 'marti gras' inspired carpet so I would check to see if/when it would happen. The space is giant and you have tons of stuff you could do with it. They do have weird chairs though with wheels, if its the same chairs for all events. And the Hotel Sierra is gorgeous, with big rooms for people to share if they did not want to rent their own. The food was good, not memorablly bad but not memorably good...hope this helps.

One major caution is the time of year of your wedding when it comes to hotel rates. If it's during football season and it's a home Packer game the price of rooms are a bit much unless you split it with friends. It is nice having the connected hotel but my FI stood up in a wedding at the Rock Garden with Comfort Suites which was beautiful! I've had both the buffet and plated for weddings at the KI and I would opt for the buffet if I had the choice. The space reminds me of a gymnasim. The tall ceilings can be problematic for sound I think. Also depending on what is booked before you, you may not be able to set up until 2pm  on the day of your wedding. We stood up in wedding about a year and a half ago and the groom's mom and aunt quick did pictures at the church and then had to leave to go set up for the reception.

Sorry for all the negative stuff but I just think you should be forewarned. The weddings I went to there were very nice affairs but from my personal planning and execution perspective I would have hated it.

Talk with Angie or Diane there... play there quite often, things are good.  Use the "A" ballroom... "B" and "C" are more exhibit facilities with high ceilings, and much plainer. "A" is a regular ballroom that can be split into 4 separate room. Total capacity of "A" is about 300 people.... and yes, the carpeting is being changed... or may have already been done...

No they didn't change the carpet. I was just there this weekend and it is still purple and yellow. As previously stated by PP, the Hotel Sierra was amazing! The food was not something to rave about though, very bland, edible, but not exciting at all. We were in the ENTIRE banquet area. there was one area that was set up nice for a wedding type hall with nice finished ceiling, but the rest of the halls looked more like a gym ceiling with rafters and industrial lights. You can tell they are still working on updating the facility, and within a few years it will be a great place for a wedding.

Having my wedding there in October 2012.  Angela mentioned the carpet was going to be changed around easter this year! The colors are gray, black and red but i'm not sure about the pattern/style.  Angela has been an absolute god-send!!! I'm currently living in TX and planning from afar....she's been beyond patient and helpful!!!  I'm super excited!!!  If you go to the website and request information- someone will contact you with their wedding packet which is a great kick off.  It was very reasonably priced in comparison to other hotels and just seemed "nicer."  The deal with the time of the year is whatever.... ours is in october and the only thing that may impact our wedding is guests getting hotel rooms.  there are two other hotels across from the KI and a few others down the streets.  so we're just sending out our STDs before the packers schedule asking people to book early.  the price of the room depends on if it's a home packers game- but thats every hotel.

I can't speak highly enough about Angela!!!!  Super helpful!!!
