Anyone been to St Louis?

My Fi and I are going to St Louis next weekend and I was wondering if anyone had ever been and had any suggestions on things to do or places to eat. Cost is not an issue. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Yes!  I've been once but my brother and sister-in-law live there now.  When I was there years ago we just ate in the downtown area (I was there for a concert with my best friend at the time).  I can ask my brother if he has any recommendations though.  We did the arch and walked around downtown quite a bit, but that's about all we had time for.  I will say that getting to the top of the arch is interesting and not for those that are claustrophobic.  You haver to ride up in these little egg-shaped compartments with 5 other people.  Someone in our egg farted. Blehhh.

I lived in STL for 8 years growing up, and there are TONS of great places to go in the downtown area.
If you like Italian food, you HAVE to go to 'The Hill'. It is a neighborhood near downtown where many Italian families emigrated in the 30's and 40's. There are tons of restaurants, shops, and mini-grocery stores--it is seriously like going back in time. I recommend Amighettis for lunch (the best sandwiches ever!), Cunetto's or Rigazzi's for dinner.

The Central West End is really neat, and probably the cleanest of the downtown neighborhoods. There are lots of shops and restaurants in that area.

If you and FI like beer, you can go to the Budweiser Brewery or the Schlafly Brewery (an independent STL brew house, they also have a great restaurant).
The STL Science Center is really unique, and is near the Zoo (which is free!) and Art Museum in Forest Park, just north of downtown off Highway 40 (the main interstate that goes through the city). FP is gorgeous, especially this time of year!
I could probably go on and on, but this is a good starting off point! If you get bored, there's always the National Bowling Hall of Fame! ;)

We got stuck on our way home from NYC in September, and made the most of it, with BBQ for dinner and an early morning trip to the Arch.

We stopped in Bandanna's for BBQ. I hate to say it, but MIssouri BBQ puts TX to shame. We brought home their sauce with us and have it stockpiled in the pantry. SOOOO GOOD! Our rental car guy gave us another place to try but it was all the way downtown so we didn't think we'd make it. If I remember what it was called, I'll be back.

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

Dierdorf and Harts is pretty great, but I don't think they have a downtown location--WestPort Plaza is about 20 minutes NW of downtown. Mike Shannon's Steakhouse is good, as well as Flemings--they have a really awesome wine selection. Scape is in the Central West End and I see old friends talk about it a lot on facebook, so I would imagine it is good but having never been there myself I don't know for sure.
My sister went to SLU, so there are probably places that she went that I have no clue even exist--I'll pick her brain and see what recommendations she has.
