detailed vendor review with photos!!!

Our wedding was on July 16th and I hope my detailed reviews will help some of you ladies :)

Ceremony/Reception: The Chadwick

We had both ceremony and reception at the Chadwick in Wexford. Our ceremony was outside on their terrace (covered) and the reception was in one of their three ballrooms. Their wedding coordinators Stacey and Jackie were extremely helpful and involved with me every step of the way. During my 10 months of planning, I was working fulltime and had just started grad school at Pitt, so I had very little free time (and sanity!) to devote to the wedding planning. They had three different tiers of per-person pricing and each tier had basically the same free “extras” but different entrée choices. We had the $60pp tier and the food was absolutely outstanding. Our entrees were sliced London broil, baked tilapia bruschetta and asiago crusted chicken. Each entrée was accompanied by a starch and vegetable of our choice, as well as various types of dinner rolls. The food is catered by Frescoe’s restaurant, which is located next door to the Chadwick. The “extras” you get at each tier is quite a lot of things…4 hour house bar (upgrade to premium available), champagne toast for the bridal party & parent tables, your choice of wedding cake from Lincoln Bakery in Bellevue, your choice of linens and napkin colors, centerpieces for bridal table and guest tables, white satin gift box for cards, engraved champagne glasses for bride & groom, white satin registration book, and a wedding coordinator for the entire evening. My hubby and I were paying for the wedding on our own and it was nice getting all these things for free. It saved us hundreds of dollars and helped stretch our budget elsewhere. There is a separate fee for using the terrace for your ceremony. They have white chairs for the ceremony and an arch decorated with white flowers. Instead of the arch, we used long flowing white curtains and it made for a stunning “beach atmosphere”. We rented the curtains from a local interior designer (I can provide their contact info upon request). The Chadwick’s staff took care of all ceremony & reception setup. We honestly didn’t have to do a thing! I am so grateful for them and their patience with my bridezilla moments in those last few weeks before the wedding. Overall, it is a really nice and affordable venue. We dressed up our ballroom with white chair covers and purple sashes, lavender uplighting and little candles everywhere. It was simply beautiful! I wish I could relive the day again but in slow motion so that I don’t miss a thing this time :)

Entertainment: Jeremy Ganss Productions

We procrastinated in the DJ department and didn’t start making calls until about 8 months before the wedding. I can’t remember how we even found Jeremy Ganss but we were instantly impressed with his portfolio and reviews. We were having a multi cultural wedding (Eastern European/American) and were very nervous about picking any random DJ for the sake of low price because we knew fusing the two different cultures and styles of music would be tricky. We also absolutely did not want things like the chicken dance, electric slide, fog machines, flashing lights, etc. We envisioned an elegant, modern and romantic evening to celebrate our love and that is what Jeremy delivered. Wedding entertainment is not something he does on the side, it is his fulltime job and he is extremely detail oriented and devoted. He is expensive ($2000) but he definitely stands out from your typical “DJ” - I would call him more of an entertainment director. We absolutely loved him and would highly recommend!

Videography: Matthew Mastroianni Productions

I was very particular about the type of wedding DVD we were looking for and passed over many less expensive videographers because the demo DVDs looked and felt “cheap” when we watched them. Matt did not offer a demo DVD, only little 5 minute snippets from his website and I was reluctant to book because of this and also the $1500 price tag. He kept in touch with me via email for several months while I looked around and answered any and all questions without making me feel pressured to book. We went with a customized highlights package and also got all the raw footage. We could not be happier with our DVD and would highly recommend him!

Photography: Laurel Mountain Photography

I can’t say enough good things about Anastasia at Laurel Mountain Photography. She and her husband co-own the company with her parents and they were recommended to us by a co-worker of mine who used them for his wedding. They have several different packages and with each one you get 2 photographers. We booked all day service…and I have to admit I was a bit obsessed about getting A LOT of photos. Anastasia and her associate Brandon arrived at the spa to capture me and the bridesmaids getting hair & make up done, then many “getting ready” photos at mine and hubby’s apartments, then hubby and I did a “First Look” session (adorable!), and then sessions on Mt. Washington, Oakland (Carnegie Mellon Institute) and the Boathouse at North Park. It was so much to work with them and we are so grateful for all the beautiful photos they took. I had 3 When we arrived at Mt. Washington we realized we forgot all the bouquets at home (30 minutes away!) and I was very close to having a meltdown over this…Anastasia’s associate Brandon got in his car and drove like a maniac to our apartment to get the flowers back! He didn’t have to but he saved the day and we are forever thankful. We would highly recommend Laurel Mountain Photography.

Chair covers: Fab Not Drab Rentals (owned by Terri Yoho)

The Chadwick provides half chair covers at $3.50 each and full chair covers at $5 each. This doesn’t seem like a lot but it can be, depending on how many guests you are having and what your budget is. We rented our full chair covers from a woman named Terri Yoho at $3 each. They were standard white chair covers and your choice of satin or organza sash (ours were purple). Included in that price is setup and teardown so you don’t have to worry about a thing! Her business is located in Cranberry where we met with her once to see the chair covers in person and sign the contract. She was very responsive via email/text when I had questions and did everything she was supposed to on the wedding day.

Flowers: Mt. Lebanon Floral

Flowers were not a priority for us but we did not want cheap looking flowers either. We also really procrastinated booking one and when we finally started making calls about 3 months before the wedding, we were shocked at how expensive everyone was! Mt. Lebanon Floral saved us, literally and financially! They were so nice and helpful…for my bouquet I envisioned lavender and purple roses (a very unusual dark purple) and that is exactly what I got. My bridesmaids had white roses. In addition to my beautiful bouquet and 5 bridesmaid bouquets, we also had 10 boutonnières (groom, 5 groomsmen, 2 fathers, and 2 little brothers), 3 corsages for the our mothers and grandmother, a tossing bouquet and loose rose petals to scatter on the bridal table, registration table and cake table. We paid about $600 which was so much lower than what we budgeted…it was the first and only thing during the wedding planning where we came UNDER budget LoL. Our flowers were delivered in the morning and they even gave us vases to put each of the bouquets in once we get to the reception.

Transportation: Quality Limousine Services

We booked our 14 person white stretch limo for about $800 for 6 hours. The owner, Marco, was a pleasure to work with. We went to see the car in person prior to booking, made a deposit, and then a final payment 2 weeks before the wedding. Easy! The driver, Jarrod, was the nicest and funniest guy ever and handled our rowdy(drunk!) bridal party in a very professional manner while we drove around for almost 4 hours to various photo session spots. Unless you have an unlimited wedding budget, do some research and don’t spend a ton of money on transportation! They are only getting you from point A to point B – don’t get reeled in by all the fancy Pittsburgh limo companies who charge you an arm and a leg because of silly “extras” like Moet champagne and flashing lights inside the limo. Totally pointless, believe me. I was kind of outraged by the quotes we were getting before I stumbled upon Quality Limousine Services. Our limo had various soft drinks, champagne, vodka, cranberry & orange juice, whisky & bottled water. Give them a call, you won't regret it!

Honeymoon: P_nta Cana

We spent  two weeks at the Majestic Elegance all-inclusive resort (we stayed in the adults-only section). We had beautiful weather and a beautiful honeymoon. I can provide a link to my very detailed review of our stay which is posted on TripAdvisor.

Hi Nikikruise, it looks like my TripAdvisor review is still in pending status (it was VERY long so I guess they review long ones before posting them) but I still have it saved on my desktop in a Word doc. I can email it to you if you'd like?
