Scented Candles

Do you think scented candles (1 pillar per table- 28 tables) would be too strong of a scent in a reception room?  I kinda liked the idea, but I didn't want to have an "over whelming" scent of vanilla in the air!  Has anyone been to a wedding with scented candles or plan on doing scented candles at all?

I would stay away from scented you never know if anyone is allergic or generally bothered by the smell plus it will make their food taste a little different because the vanilla is in their noses.

I wouldn't use scented candles. If people don't enjoy the smell or have an aversion, they will be so uncomfortable.

I love love love scented candles.  I burn one every day at work.  But at a wedding, I wouldn't be a fan, simply because certain scents bother me.  Especially Vanilla.  Flowers and unscented candles are the way to go.

I agree, I would not use scented candles at a wedding, even 1 at a table would be too much. Many people are allergic to scents and it could turn into a huge problem.. plus, not everybody likes the scent of vanilla, or something else, so it could turn them off from being in the room completely. I would just use all unscented candles.

Id def. Lean away from it for the above mentioned reasons. I love them as well, but certain scents for me, like vanilla, give me a headache:/ If you are really hooked on the idea, maybe have unscented on most tables and vanilla only on a few to avoid it being to overpowering. Id def check with people sitting at those tables to make sure its ok.

I agree with all the other PPers.
If you really like them & want to incorporate them, maybe give smaller (unlit) ones as a favor?

I forgot to mention.. I know it can really affect a person that is allergic to them enough to make them want to leave. We were at someone's house the other day and FI was apparently allergic to the candle they had burning.. he started sneezing uncontrollably, eyes watering, and we had to leave early!
