Second Weddings

My thoughts on this happy friday...

Good morning Ladies!  Can I just say that planning a wedding the second time around is so much more fun and stress-free.  I'm doing things MY WAY this time and I'm loving it.  :)

Here's to getting to the right place, even if you have to take the long way!

While I agree it has definitely been more fun (nothing like being able to tell people "I don't really have an opinion on that - so feel free to just make it pretty"), I am dealing with some sticker shock.

My first wedding was in a park and a BBQ at our house after.  Aside from the dress we maybe spent $500 (Mom bought my dress that time around).

This time I gave us a budget of about $10k - 5k for ceremony in Mexico and 5k for a party in WI after we get back.

I just got proposals from the "cheaper" caterer for the food alone (no beverages) was over $4000!

    GASP!

Other than that it has been a ton of fun!  Happy Friday everyone!

I wish I could say that this has been stress free (it would have been less stressful had I not entered and "won" a stupid contest), but it has been a lot happier!!

It's nice to have a wonderful FI that is involved in every aspect of the planning because it is his dream day as well!  There are times that I think the man is more excited than I am about it.

    Happy Friday!!!

Shytown - I agree with you about sticker shock!!  Mine was the cost of "wedding hair" $75.00 per lady!

I'm on this board because I'm older, even though this IS my first wedding (fiance's 3rd). I have much more in common with the ladies here who tend to be in my age group, with kids, and all the other assorted problems.

Having said that, this is the first wedding I am planning, and I'm enjoying the HELL out of it! My big stressor, getting my most excellent seamstress friend over here to hear my dress plans & see my 3 patterns, happened this morning, so all's better. I can honestly start to sew it during the week nights, and hide it every weekend when Kevin comes over. The dress itself is easy, and could be done in one day, seriously. Simple A-line, with a sweetheart neckline. But then the ruching and lace inserts, and alencon lace bolero will take a bit more time. Luckily no real hand beading involved, just getting the lace attached by hand.

    I feel much better.

This is a happy Friday for me as well ... yesterday, I met (via phone) with the invitation designer, so that process is finally kicked-off.  Today, I met with the new floral designer and I love her (more than the first one, I think!).  We are in synch. Yay!

I have much more stress (and less cash) than I had when I planned my first wedding.  Luckily, my ex and I planned things exactly as we wanted it to be.  Honestly, I had a blast planning it; one of my best friends was getting married 3 weeks later.  We had fun doing it at the same time!

I am enjoying this planning process as well but it is very different with so many life stressors right now.
