Non-Catholic Wedding

Hi! I live near NO, and my FI and I are stuck on having our wedding in one of the gorgeous Catholic Churches in NO. No matter where we get married, we will definitely get married in a church. Well, I get a little confused by the guidelines of marriage in Catholic churches just because it uses terms I am not familiar with because I am not Catholic. So to make it simple. Can two non-Catholic individuals marry in a Catholic church? We are Christians. Baptist to be exact. And we are active in our local church. But I am still unsure if this is allowed. Does it just depend on the church or is there like a set rule?

Thanks! ;)

I am quite certain there is no Catholic church anywhere that will marry you if neither one of you are Catholic.  If only one of you is Catholic, then it is possible with extra hoops to go through.  Check out the guidelines for St. Louis Cathedral online...I remember them being pretty simple and clear about the requirements for when the couple is both Catholic and when only one is Catholic.  But you will have to check out non-Catholic churches if neither of you are Catholic. :(

Dang. ;( It's just hard to find beautiful churches that aren't Catholic. Idk what it is or why it's like that... Oh well! Thanks!

I have been to a wedding at First Presbyterian Church on S Claiborne Ave and thought the church was beautiful.  If you can't use a Catholic church, you should definitely look into it.

No, you cannot get married in the Catholic Church if neither of you is Catholic.  There are MANY beautiful churches in the New Orleans area.  Just take a look around and you'll find something you'll love! :)

I am getting married at Zion Lutheran on St Charles. It is a beautiful church with lots of history dating back over 120 years. Just a thought!

Try St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian on St. Charles and State.
It's old and beautiful.  This is where my daughter is getting married next March.
