For those of you that DIY'd your Invites....

A few questions for you:

Where did you get your paper??
Did you print at home or take them somewhere to be printed?
If I buy the paper will Kinkos or fedEx print it out for me?
How much do they typically charge for something like that?

After searching and searching for a good deal online for our invites, it seems like I may do better having the FI's cousin design our invitations and printing them. She also did our STD so I know that she will do an amazing job, my problem is finding the paper. I went to Michaels and their selection left much to be desired. Many of the boxes were already opened and the paper was a bit flimsy. Help ladies, I need some direction!

  • I had my invites designed by a graphic designer and then printed through catprint.com you can contact them for afree sample paper packet. Once you pick your paper you upload your design wiith the sizes etc they print cut and ship them to you and all you have to do is assemble they also sell envelopes so you can get everything from them. The paper is invitation quality and thicker. To give you an idea for 150 invites accomodation cards and rsvp cards wifh rsvp envelopes and invite envelopes on linen paper I paid 150. It can be cheaper depending on the paper you pick. HTH

  • I bought paper at some family paperstore near me. I have a lot left over if you want to buy it. I actually just listed it on the classified board. I have 4x6 creme cardstock and 5x8 creme and eggplant cardstock.  you can print it on your home computer. I probably have enough for what you need :-) ( i only listed that i have like 63 sheets, but I have more of the creme paper) The creme is 80 lbs cardstock, really thick and heavy, perfect for invites and the purple is even heavier.

  • I'm late, but I bought card stock from Staples for 13 or 14.99 and also printed there. It was $.98 a copy for color. I had 2 invites to a sheet, and 4 RSVPs, Accomodations, and FAQ cards to a sheet. Total was 118.90 minus the paper.
