Old Saybrook hotel recommendation

I am wondering if anyone has any recommendation or experiences with cheaper hotel options around Saybrook Point Inn & Spa?  I want to block some cheaper options for my guests since Saybrook Point prices are through the roof.

I think I see Super 8, Comfort Inn, Days Inn and Howard Johnson around the area.
I have stayed in Comfort Inn and Days Inn in other locations and I find them quite comfortable for short stays.

Do they ask you to put some sort of deposit or something to hold the rooms?  Or do different hotels work differently?

Thanks!

I just looked on someone's webpage who had their wedding at Saybrook Point Inn last year.  In addition to Saybrook Point Inn, they reserved rooms at the Days Inn in Old Saybrook.  They also reserved a block of rooms about 20 minutes away for out of town guests who wanted to stay closer to their parents' place.
I'm not sure what the process is as far as putting a deposit down.
    Good luck!

Oh geez...I THINK we stayed at the Comfort Inn two years ago.  It was either the Days Inn or the Comfort Inn.  Either way we were very happy.

There's another one: Econo Lodge, but that one might be a bit pricier?

Old Saybrook has a Days Inn, a Comfort Inn, Econolodge, Super 8, Executive Inn and Suites, and a Howard Johnson which are all reasonably priced hotel all in the vicinity of the Saybrook Point Inn....in Saybrook, it's hard not to be in the vicinity, it's a very small town and everything is either right along route 1 or 154 or right off of it

Hope that helped, this is my turf hehe

Thanks very much!  I will work on these and find the cheaper one.

We did what came w/ our package at Water's Edge then rooms at the Econo Lodge for mid-range and Days Inn for budget.  I think the Econo Lodge and Comfort Inn were the nicest but we're providing transportation and it was just easier to go w/ Econo and Days since they're close together.  I think the Super 8 and Days Inn were the cheapest we found.

One question: How do you provide transportation for guests?  Do rent a bus or..?  Thanks!
