change the date???

Originally we had decided on September 17, 2011.... after some research, we were worried about the weather since we are planning an outdoor wedding. The weather history says September is really hot, like in the 90's so we started looking at different months and we decided April would be a good one. It just so happens the first Saturday is April 2nd which will be our 3 year anniversary (i love that). We had planned on having a long engagement but now we are both up in the air about changing the date. Do we stick with September and have the ceremony later in the evening but have it possibly be hot, sticky, and maybe rain or change the date to April which happens to be our anniversary and the weather is much more comfortable also the chance of rain is lower, but we would lose the extra five months of being engaged/planning. Thoughts?? or has anyone changed their date for similar reasons? Savannah weather is tricky I need help!

    Actually, it only rains about .05 inches more on average in September than in April (according to this site:  http://weather.msn.com/daily_averages.aspx?wealocations=wc:USGA0506&q=Savannah%2c+GA+forecast:averagesd&weai=9)

    September is a great deal warmer, but being from the Savannah area, I tend to like it better that way than too cold (hence why I'm getting married in August).  My main (and really only) problem with Aprils in Savannah is the pollen count.  Without fail I get sick in March/April and stay that way until May.  The flowers and trees are gorgeous this time of year, but if you have pollen allergies, you pay for it dearly.

    That being said, the worst part of getting married in September is you're right in the middle of hurricane season, and Savannah, being a coastal city, is right in the path of a good many storms, or at least the spin-off rainfall from the storms.

    In the end, there are pros and cons to either month.  It really just depends on which you think is worse (potential rain v. pollen and sickness) and whether your budget can sustain cutting the engagement period by that many months.  From the way your post reads, it sounds like you really would rather get married in April, so if your budget can take the hit from losing five months of savings, I'd do it. 

    FYI, we're having about a 10-month engagement and are getting married in Savannah, and we had the bulk of the wedding planned within 2-3 months, so it's totally do-able from a time standpoint.


    EDIT:  I think I was looking at the wrong numbers when I got that .05.  That's the difference in averages on a DAILY basis.  On a monthly basis, Sept. has 1.5 more inches than April.  My bad.

    We visited Savannah last year mid-April and it was pretty warm - warm enough for me to break a sweat just walking around.  And it was HUMID as all get out!!!!  FI's allergies were going NUTS and it took him 3 days after we got home to get back to normal.  Just something to think about if anyone attending is prone to seasonal allergies.  It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL, though!

    You are so right Savannah weather is tricky.  I am a hopeless romantic and Love that yall could get married on your anniversary. I say wait until April. April weather is not that bad. It is warm to think it will be beautiful. I am going to be a  September but my wedding is all indoors.
