Hi, Did anyone see today's Ask Amy? Some FMIL wrote in about how selfish it was that her daughter and SIL are by having a DW. I am formulating a response. ;-)
Not only is the mother of the bride being ridiculous, but i didnt really appreciate amy's response either! Mother of the bride contributes money as a gift and then is mad that the couple is "making money"? If shes not involved in planning, as she says, what does she know about costs?
I've gotten some of this attitude (toned down) from some family. Some family members have asked "Well, your destination is really inconvienent for us to fly to. Didn't you consider that?" I'm having a hard time finding a polite way of saying, "No. No I didn't. I considered the convienence for my friends and family that I actually want to attend, but not you."
It's not that I don't want them there, just that I can't worry about every single place people are going to be flying from, and I can't please everyone, so I had to think about who it meant the most to me to be there.
