Venue for dessert

We are looking for a place that can accomodate an informal dessert type of event. We're getting married on a Sunday and want to have a welcome event for all the out of town guests where we serve desserts and coffees the Saturday night before the wedding.

Anyone have recommendations on a place in the French Quarter where we could do this? Unfortunately the hotels we have booked can't accomodate this type of event.

    Perhaps the Palace Cafe?

Depending on how large your party is, I found the Royal Sonesta had a variety of rooms with very reasonable minimums for parties of 75 and under.  The larger rooms, however, have high minimums that a dessert and coffee event wouldn't touch.

I would also recommend Palace Cafe. I think it will really depend on what time  you do it. I doubt that any restaurant would be willing to sacrifice dining space for dinner hour just for deserts. However, if you do it late in the evening or late afternoon, they may be willing to accomodate you.
