Need some help -

A very close friend of mine wants to throw me a shower.  I know that etiquette says that I should gracefully decline (I have been married before), but I accepted because I felt honored that she wanted to this.  Here is my dilema, she has asked me what kind of theme I want and I have no clue.  I have done some research and have seen things like "mood" showers, lingerie showers etc.  I am not really for the lingerie shower, I am very picky about what I wear because I want it to look good on me.  Not to mention I have some friends that would think it was a great idea and others that probably would die of shock if they went into a store like that.  Anyone have any suggestions?

MOH asked me what kind of shower as well and she gave me two options: lingere and kitchen.  I opted for Kitchen since a lot of the stuff on our registry was for the kitchen and I really didn't want my mom, mom's friend, mom's friend's mom, etc seeing me open lingere gifts, much less get me one!  In the end, I received many kitchen related gifts from the guests and my two BMs who attended both strayed and bought me lingere (I probably turned bright red when I opened them - one is a red apron thingie to "follow the theme").

I've also heard about time of day showers where each guest gets assigned a time of the day and buys the bride a gift according to then e.g. 8am = coffee mug, creamer, slippers, Noon = tupperware, reusable water bottle, etc.

You should look into the 'around the clock' theme. Those can be really fun if planned correctly. Make sure the guests understand how to participate and then you'll receive a variety of items from your registry :)

I just went to an "around the clock" themed shower.  It was really fun and the host bought little kitchen timers for favors. The timeline was the order the gifts were opened. She really got a range of gifts from kitchen stuff for 10am to lingere for 10pm!  It was fun and creative.
I am looking for creative ideas too for my shower next February(ish) so I'm interested to see what other's say too!

I like the around the clock idea.  I did a honeymoon theme, so we had a honeymoon registry, plus anything for the bedroom (bedding, pillows, etc.).

BTW, I think its ridiculous that you can't have a shower if you've been married before.  Pa-lease.

if you get a second wedding, you get a second shower --just sayin'.

i like "pamper the bride" showers...where the girls get you oils, lotions, eye masks, bath robes, slippers, etc... the bride definitely needs these before her wedding!

Also, I don't think a theme is necessary (although I'm a theme party lovin' gal) if it puts stress on her. Mine didn't really have a theme.

I always like the Around the Clock theme. How are you guys set-up in the usual registry stuffs for what you actually need/want? If it's very little, you could also have a Newlywed theme...gifts that are activities to do together after your married such as cooking classes, etc.

Oh... I get it now! Haha. One of my friends had two showers. One up here in Seattle that her groom's family threw for her and one down in California where she grew up. The one in California was Around the Clock and I had no idea what that meant and thought people got her like clocks or some sort of watch/hourglass-related thing. :P (Clearly, I'm not that bright.) XD

my mom keeps asking me about having a bridal shower, and i told her I don't want a whole bunch of underwear that i am never going to wear.  I really like the idea of the Around the clock theme. will pass that on.

Maybe it's just me, but in general, what is it with people and buying someone clothing as a gift and not providing a gift receipt?  The 2 pieces I received came with them (Nordy) so when I had to exchange the size of one, it was easy peasy.
