Re: Undergarments??!?!

I'm not sure yet.  I bought a corset/bustier, but I haven't decided if I'm going to wear it or not.  I'm taking it to my first fitting next week and will try it on with and without.  I'm going to let the tailor decide.

On that note though, I have to put a plug in for the place I bought it.  It's called Orchard Corset.  It's in NYC.  I swear, the woman is the freaking bra whisperer!!!!  It's this tiny little shop lined with boxes.  You go into this little curtained area in the back of the shop.   You tell her what your dress looks like, she has you take off your top, she looks at you, give a little boob pat, and comes back with the perfect thing.  She never asked me my size or anything.  She's seriously gifted!  As I was checking out, I asked her how business was going, and she told me that she had just fit a ton of people for the Oscars.  I guess all the famous people have her fit their undergarments for their dresses, so she obviously knows her stuff.  It wasn't expensive either.  I spent about $50 for it.  My FMIL also got fit.  Great experience.  It took less than 10 minutes for her to do my fitting.  I plan on going back to her whenever I need anything like that.  They have an online business too, but I don't think it compares to having her actually doing your fitting.  http://www.orchardcorset.com/

Funny story -- I bought this white, strapless corset thing and at my first fitting  I noticed that it hits just above my waist and was slightly visible through the fabric of my chiffon dress. You could see the gap between my underwear and the corset. So my seamstress who is an old Italian lady said in the cutest accent ever -  "Get big, big underwear." Needless to say, I turned beet red.

My dress is a Corset style, so I am just getting a white strapless bra. I purchased mine @ Saxon Kent Lingerie in Orange....love their service and selection!

I also bought blue lace underwear :)

lol!!! Very funny!!!  Yea, one of the things that I was told is that it's really important that the corset comes down to your hips.  It not only keeps things like that from happening, but since it rests on your hips, it won't ever slide down... and you don't get the muffin top effect with the bulge coming out underneath!

My dress was a corset back.  I wore a strapless bra and spanxs just to make sure things were smooth where they needed to be.

My dress is corset style.. lace up back so I'm just wearing my flesh toned strapless bra and personalized boy shorts that say Mrs. New Last Name on the back. I wore them for my boudoir shoot and can't wait to wear them again on our wedding day! :0)

My dress has a corest back, so I think I will go without.  I might bring a strapless bra with me to my first fitting, just in case.
As for panties, I am thinking I might get some hot pink ones and embelish them with Mrs C.

I have no idea what to wear under my dress. It's so fitted and sheer (they are going to sew extra lace in to hide my tattoos. I'm afraid anything will show. I don't think I can wear a bra, it's a halter that comes down kind of low on the sides. And I have to wear flesh tone panties, probably spanx.

...and proofreading that I realized my dress sounds super tacky. :) Ha.

My seamstress is going to sew cups into my strapless dress, and I will probably wear cute blue underwear that say Mrs. A or something like that.

<div>mmmm, not real brand name Spanx.  those you can get at Nordstrom (one in the Westfarms mall in West Hartford), and they run at about $70 for a pretty serious pair.  the prices are all on Spanx's website...</div>

This is almost exactly what I did.  The dress was very fitted, so I got cups sewn in, and I wore my "something blue" as my undies.  That was it.

I literally went to every store in the mall, unsucessfully.  And much to my dismay, I ordered online from Herstore.  The shipping was free and fast and I got my long line bra.  I have a fairly large chest 36DD so I was nervous. But it is perfect

I am not a huge fan of these things (whatever they are called) but MOH suggested that I try it because she LOVED hers!

This is what I found so far online....

Kim, that's almost exactly what the lady at Orchard Corset gave me.  I wore it last night under a formal dress that I wore to a gala, and it was AWESOME.  I actually thought it was too loose when I put it on yesterday, but it never budged an inch... never slid down at all or shifted because it went all the way down to my hips (as I mentioned earlier).  I couldn't believe the boost it gave my girls either! lol!  It was great... gave me the support I needed, eliminated any kind of rolls, etc when I sat down, and was actually quite comfortable.  I'm a total believer now. :-)
