Snarky Brides

Morning!

Good morning and happy Friday, all!

Work has been brutal this week so I will be very glad when this day is over.  One of my clients tried to get me "in trouble" with my boss yesterday.  Joke's on him because she doesn't believe a word he says because he's a lying liar who lies.  Blah.  After work I'm going shopping for a gameday sundress for the game tomorrow.  SO EXCITED for this game (even though its supposed to rain)!

On another note, I need to vent a moment.  There is a girl that I am FB friends with.  She got engaged about 2 months ago and every single status update since then has been, "xxx days until I marry soandso!!!!!" and then she goes on to talk about what her status was originally intended for, then ends with, "I'm so glad GOD brought soandso to me and we will be together forever!!!!!"  No, I'm not kidding.  This is multiple times throughout every single day.  Right now, we're on day 260 of the countdown.  This shiiiit ain't funny or cute (note to all you lurkers out there) so if this goes on much longer, I'm going to have to defriend her.

Re: Morning!

  • Uhhhh, I hate people like that. There's a girl I'm friend with on facebook who does that. She posted a new picture of her ring everyday for two weeks after she got engaged. And she give a count down update every few days. Posted a picture of her contract for her ceremony site. I mean, seriously, why on earth do you need to take a crappy cell picture of your contract and post it for everyone to see.

On a less complain-y note, I get out of work early today. I excited about that!

  • Shay, I have a FB friend like that.  It's freakin obnoxious.  Everyday they have stuff posted about "XX days until I'm a [last name]"... and it's writted on paper, cakes, etc. etc.  EVERY SINGLE DAY.  Also, this person asked me about 30 million questions all throughout my wedding (wedding weekend specifically) about everything I did.  I love her but holy cow, relax!  Her FI must be so drained...

On that note, good morning everyone!  It's Friday.  That's about all I have to add.
  • Have fun with your family, Edie!

Cnf, I'm jealous.  I want to leave early. Booo.

Lbarr, that's just how this girl is.  I swear I would be so creeped out if I were her FI.  She tags him in every single post.  And what really bugs me is people LIKE every freaking update!  And comment on them!  I don't want to be the assshole that says STFU but come on, man.  And ohmywhatthehell, I just saw an update where she mentions that she can't wait until they are able to sleep together once they're married.  Keep that effing shiiiiit off FB.

I don't even want to.  I just want to completely defriend.  But then I don't because it's like a train wreck that I can't stop staring at...  I'm a terrible person. ha ha.  Clearly I don't care though lol.

  • 260 days...that's a long time. I couldn't handle that crap every day. I'd probably leave a bitchy comment and hide or defriend, depending on who it was.

Just work today, then heading home for the weekend. I'm excited for the break away from Jax. Although, I do need to lesson plan. I'm behind.
  • Haha Shay, she should keep that off FB yikes!  I still think of all of the questions:  what did you do for gifts... how did you choose your colors.... how much did you spend on this.... where did you get your favors ... AS I'm trying to enjoy my wedding day.  I guess I'm still not completely over how annoyed I was at that, ha.
  • I won't be sorry to see the backside of this week! Happy early turkey day to my fellow Canadians! LONG WEEKEND!!!!!

I'd likely unfriend someone who did the constant update thing. I have a cousin-in-law (to be) who posts crazy countdowns to her next trip home, and it's cute and funny, but I could never do the constant update thing...

Craptastic work week keeps getting better. I don't want to turn into one of those bitter people, and I'm so afraid that it's starting! I need to stop. Immediately.

This is very likely the year that I take up drinking. (I'm not against it or anything, just never been something that I've done) I may have to start - then I can be jolly and not bitter!

  • Thanks! My puppy's name is Griswold and he's a chocolate lab. He went to the vet yesterday and he weighed 75lbs! He's only 14 months, so we're hoping he tops out around 90lbs. I love big dogs.

My boss always lets us out a few hours early the day/weekend before a holiday. It's awesome.

Shay, I agree, I love watching a good train wreck. There's a couple people I stay friends with for that reason. Also, if I get to the point where I feel the need to unsubscribe to someone, that means I just need to defriend them because I clearly couldn't give a rats ass about their life.

  • Lbarr, on your wedding day?? Surprised

Jenny, I'm sorry your job is the suck right now.  Are you looking for another teaching position to possibly start in January, or are you going to hold out until next year?  It seriously sucks when you're not happy at work.

Wait whhaaaaaaaat?!  Are you freaking kidding me?  Homegirl needs to get back to reality and stop posting about her wedding on FB!  I swear, FB is the devil.  And honestly, who really gives a crap how many days are left??

I'm so ready for this day to be over!  I have been a bad FI and haven't cleaned the house in a loooong time, so right after work I'm going to download some awesome tunes, plug in my i pod and clean the house until it's sparkling again.  I think tonight we're going to rent Dark Shadows or Snow White and the Huntsman.  I really wanted to go see Frankenweenie but it is SO expensive to go to the movies!! Then tomorrow I have to run 10 miles, go to my dress fitting, and hang out with my future in-laws!  Sunday is my last shower too...busy but fun weekend ahead for me :)

Agreed!  I have a friend who constantly (like multiple times a day) posts her love for her bf and tags him in it.  Then he comments on it and they just write back and forth on FB all day.  It is a big schmoop-fest and although it's suuuuuper annoying, I can't tear my eyes away from the trainwreck.

  • Yes Shay, but mainly she bombarded H with those questions on that day.  I don't think he was super happy about it.  At the RD she wouldn't stop.... just would. not. stop.  My more pessimistic self wanted to say "It's a wedding, you blink and it's over.  Have fun with it and don't stress every day about every little detail or ask people 30,000 questions unless you want to pay them as your wedding planner."  :)

She really is SO nice I just don't think she realizes that she is being totally consumed by it.  It's not worth it at all.
  • Morning.

I actually get really amused by FB oversharers.  No idea why.  I always just giggle at them.

So it's scheduled to be 22F/-6C tonight. Damnit.  Looks like fall is over already here.  So I'm cranky about it.  I'm not ready to shut up the house at night and break out the super heavy blankets.

thanks Shay! My contract is for the full year, but I will definitely be looking for any other position that comes up. My big fear is that the school will not 'allow' me to be interviewed because they don't want to fill this position again. I am required to tell them that I'm applying for other positons, because your principal has to be one of your references.

Background: they offered me this job and another one in June, I took the other. The guy who accepted this job took the books home and did some prep then freaked because he didn't want to do it any more. So they gave him MY job, because he had been at this school last year (gives him seniority), while I was teaching at the college.

The real kicker is that my job at the college is still vacant (it's a maternity replacement until January) and my former students have been contacting my to tutor them, since they don't have a teacher!

And honestly, I wouldn't even mind if my 'mentor' would do her job and tell me what needs to be done. I spent two weeks filling out paperwork on students to get it sent home, only to be told this week that it was the wrong stuff and needs to be done again. I asked repeatedly if these were the right forms... I'm also constantly rearranging my schedule to do things that I'm not supposed to be doing, like covering support staff breaks.

    End of vent...

Must update my facebook status now to let the world know that I have peed three times this morning. I know that everyone's dying for this info! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

  • Morning!

FB oversharers drive me crazy too! I don't have any who do the whole day by day countdown, but I do have an (older) friend who comments on almost everything I post. It wouldn't be so bad, except that he has no sarcasm radar, and his comments are always reeeeeally long and half the time make no sense, or are personal stories of his that miss the point of the post.

Jenny, I'm sorry your job situation sucks. My last year of teaching, I only made it to Thanksgiving weekend. I just couldn't take the beaurocratic crap anymore. I hope things get better for you!
  • Morning ladies!

I'm here, should be boring today, both my bosses are gone and it's just us girls. We have one CW that irks the crap out of us with her half days here and half days there instead of just taking a vacation. Well we called it when she wasnt taking vacation days during the year, because "last minute" (yeah sure) she e-mails our boss, on his day off, to say she's going on a cruise the last week of December! She needs to know NOW because she has to make her reservations right.this.minute. My other CW was like Really? Like you havent been planning to do this for months. She so full of it, she doesnt do much anyway, so its not a hardship, its just the bull crap.

Shay- I would have to comment on that crap. 260 days out really? If she keeps this up, they may not get married.

Yoga tonight for the first time in forever.

  • I'm with ya on the temps, Anna.  We're going to a football game in Fort Collins tomorrow - HIGH TEMP is forecast at 40*'; low of 25*.  It was 80* on Tuesday - what happened to Fall?  At least we have the gear/clothing for a cold outdoor day.

Update on the zucchini chips:  You can slice them too thin.  I used the '1' setting on the mandoline slicer, and they were too thin.  Nickel/quarter thickness would work much better.  Also, the recipe cautions about over-seaoning.  This is absolutely true - I thought I was seasoning lightly, but not so much.  Use 1/2 as much seasoning as you think you should, because they shrink that much and the seasoning is concentrated.  Seasoning after they're done is fine if you went too light.  Mine were too thin, way over-seasoned, and completely vile.  I will make them again, but chalk this one up to experience.  At least I'm only out one zucchini.

You dont know the half of it JCB. Everyday its something, and there are only 5 of us in the office, so its kind of hard to avoid. H cant stand her.

  • Oh dang, Jenny.  I'm not going to lie, that sucks that you have to tell them you're job hunting.  That seems kind of sketch.  I mean, I know they don't want to be left in a lurch, but really, anytime anyone leaves a job for another one that happens so...

LES!  Question!  How should one pack if they are traveling to Colorado the first week in November?  Or is it like Florida, in which case who the hellll knows?

  • jcg - this is the recipe I used:  http://vittlesandbits.blogspot.com/2012/03/baked-zucchini-chips.html I do think they have potential, but I didn't do it right the first time.  My mandoline slicer made them literally paper-thin, and it just didn't work baked.  Fried would probably be different.  I'm going to try thicker and see if it's better.

Shay - when I moved here, the first thing I learned about Colorado is this:  if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes.  It will change.  Early November is a crapshoot.  I would plan for layers, as the temperature can swing 40 degrees in a day.   For example, I planned a pool party for my daughter's birthday, and we got snowed out and had to go to Chuck E Cheese.  Her birthday is June 15.  The fall can be gorgeous and 70*, with an overnight low of 25* and snow the next day.  Another problem with Colorado Springs/Denver is that the weather along the Front Range changes by the hour, and a forecast 8 days out can become completely worthless.  I recommend watching NOAA.gov as it is the most accurate forecast I have found.  Watch it up until you leave, as it changes daily.  You might get gorgeous sunny days, but you might need to plan for a cold snap or snow.

  • No snow up here yet, but we've had a few hard frosts, and temp are going to be single digits (in celcius) next week. To borrow a phrase: winter is coming.

I need to find a sensible pair of boots and a new coat that will support -40 to -50. My snowmobile clothes do that, but I don't want to suit up every time I open the door, and last year's stuff isn't warm enough.

I'd like a few more 90 degree days Shay! I'm so not ready for winter yet. I'm not a Stark.
