There are some woman that dream of rings so new and blinding, "Marry Me" chould only be discovered by fingers moving ever so franticly atop protruding braille. But, there are also some woman (me) who thouroughly enjoy the sentimentality of an antique ring, worn by generations of successful marriages before her. My fiance, Zachary purposed to me in our kitchen, just as my father had done, on June 13th 2012. He prepared a candle lit dessert atop a plate, i had suspiciously never seen before. As we reached the always dreadful dessert finale, I was pleasantly surprised. In the center of the plate lie a silver heart. Inside of the heart was Together forever - "Leanne, Will you Marry Me?". He dropped to one knee, and asked to share my life with him.
The ring was familiar, although there had been alterations made to enhance the durability, it was still unmistakable as my great Grandma's wedding ring. My great Grandfather bought this ring during WW2 in france. The diamond is a precious European French cut, that is a sight to be seen. The seasoned, and well reasearched, jeweler he took it to was simply in awe of its raw charisma and undeniable beauty. My great Grandmother wore it everyday for 45 years. My grandmother, who was married for 65 years, passed it down to her only daughter (my aunt), who then passed it down to me. I feel absolutely blessed to be the carrier of such a tradition of love and preserverence.
