Engagement Ring..

How are you guys wearing it/ not wearing it during the ceremony? I've looked up etiquette and I've seen you wear it on your right 4th finger or give it to mom or even other ways.. Wanted your thoughts cause I'm still torn on this issue..

Re: Engagement Ring..

  • I'm giving mine to my mom. It just doesn't feel right when it's on my right hand.
  • I'll be wearing my engagement ring on my left ring finger and switching the order of the rings right after the ceremony.  I know that's not what you're supposed to do...oh well :)

I'm doing the same thing as Laura. My engagement ring doesn't fit on my right hand.

  • My ring fits on my right hand, but it's pretty snug. I'll probably give it to my mom too.

  • I was thinking about it as well and finally decided to leave FBIL in charge of all the rings. He's tying them on to our ring bearer's "pillow" about 15 seconds before they walk in.

  • Mine will be soldered to the wedding bands, so I will hand it to our best man right before the ceremony since I will have it on for pre-ceremony pictures.

  • I'm planning on wearing mine on my right hand. I plan to never take my wedding ring off or very few times for cleaning it or something, so I won't want to switch them afterwards.

Ditto... except we are doing pics after the ceremony.
  • I'm going to wear mine on my right hand after we're married (it's a sapphire, and the ring style doesn't really go with my wedding band), so I'll just switch it to the right hand before the ceremony. (It is a little more snug on that finger, though, and I'm secretly worried it's going to get stuck someday...)

  • I'm wearing mine on my right hand, then after I put my band one, putting it back on my left hand.

This.  I'm pretty sure that my "something old" will be a ring that my grandfather gave my grandmother (we're getting married on their anniversary) and I'll be wearing it on my right hand.  If I don't use that, I plan to wear the claddaugh ring that FI got me a few years ago on my right hand.  I always have it over there so if I put my engagement ring on the right hand and move it after the ceremony, my right hand will feel weird and naked all night.

I'll put mine on the pinkie of my right hand, since it's pretty tight on my ring finger. Then it will be super easy to switch it back to my left hand right away. My wedding band looks weird without the e-ring (they came as a set).
  • I haven't figured this out yet either.  I have 2 bands, one for the top and one for the bottom.

  • I will have it on my right hand, and put it back into place right after the wedding band goes on! It will be moved to my right hand just before I walk into the church..

  • Mine fits on my right hand so I'll wear it on that hand until after the ceremony and slide it back. If it didn't fit I would just wear it as I normally do and flip my wedding right around with it after the ceremony. We are doing most of the pictures before the ceremomy and I am planning on wearing it during that time as well.

I'm doing this too.  On my right hand I'll have another ring on that finger.

  • Mine will be soldered together, so I'm sending it out to get soldered and then won't wear it again until the ceremony! :-( I'm gonna feel naked!

  • I'm not sure yet. I don't really want to see my engagement ring on my right hand in pictures during the ceremony. But I don't know who I would trust to hold it for me either. Maybe I'll pin it to my dress or something.

  • My Mom is holding mine until the ceremony is over.

  • I'm wearing mine on my right hand, which is what I have read and what my Mom did. However, I think the idea of having your Mom hold it until after the ceremony is a good idea...at least you know it will be safe :)
  • I will be wearing mine on my left hand and NOT switching the order of the rings afterwards.
what I might do at some point is start wearing both on my right hand. I'd do that if/when we go to my home country as the tradition there is to wear wedding bands on the right hand.

  • My finace bought me a sapphire and diamond ring as my 'something blue'. I will be wearing that on my right hand so someone will hold on to my engagement ring for the ceremony.
