color help!

I am getting married Sept 2013. My favorite color is pink, but I wanted to use a combo that you don't see all the time. I've been engaged for 2 years and had planned on using peony and nickel. Now that it's time to start planning, I'm having doubts. My wedding is outdoors with lots of trees, flowers, and a pond. The reception will take place inside of a rustic barn. I'm wondering if blues and greens would be more appropriate... Help!

I think your colors are great! You might be able to find some inspiration at http://www.theperfectpalette.com/. As for the barn, I think you could totally pull it off. Your colors are very vintage, IMO.

  • I think your colors will be very pretty!  But it's your wedding!

  • I'm getting married on the beach, and our colors are pink and gray.  I love the beach and I love pink so I decided (and FI relented) to throw the two together and to hell with it.

Greens and blues sound beautiful, and are very calming (to me, anyway).  Go with your gut. It's your wedding so there really is no wrong way to do it ;)

  • Have you been to the fabric store to get a few swatches?  There are so many different shades of various colors.  It helped me tremendously when me and my FMIL went and compared shades.  Pink is just as good as blue and green.  It's all about what shade you're using against the barn backdrop e.g. light blue, dark blue, hot pink, etc.
  • When I saw you liked pink I was going to recommend pairing it with a gray-type color. I love these two colors together and I think it's a great idea! The peony color will really pop!!

  • Thanks so much everyone! Now, I just have to figure out the shades, and if the bridesmaids should wear pink or grey.
