Hello, introducing myself.

Hi, I am pretty new here and thought I would introduce myself.  
I am Karla, 44, and getting married in July.  This will be both of our second marriages (he is a widower, I am divorced).  We have 7 kids between us, although my two oldest are out of the house.  I am also a grandma to a 5 month old, so we keep pretty busy!  
We will be having a wedding with about 60-70 people.  I have the dress and am in the process of making some altarations (adding bling and buttons)...it is champagne colored...
I didn't have a nice wedding the first time so I am super excited this time!  
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

    Okay, we have to go cake tasting, but my fiance wants a carrot cake...I am agreeable to that with no raisins.  ha ha
    We are getting married and doing the reception here:
    Let's see, I got my shoes and I love them, they are red...he will have red suspenders and that is the only red we will be wearing.  
    Our colors are champagne, chocolate brown, and red accent. 
    Our 5 youngest will be in the wedding party....
    It is an old hotel still standing from the 1800's so we will do a somewhat rustic/vintage look...
    I'm doing it myself for the most part, but delegating a lot to friends/family.  
    Anything else?

    Uh, yeah ... the shoes are the thing.  Red sounds good.  I will resist the urge to describe mine.  Enjoy those fun, fun shoes!!

    Hello!!  Welcome!  Your wedding sounds like mine.  My future husband is widower and me divorced.  We have three kids between us and two fur babies.  We are having 90-100 at our wedding.  Neither of us had wedding before so we decided to go for broke and broke is how I am feeling.  Your wedding sounds great!  That is a beautiful location.  Will you be inside or outside?  I love the suspender and shoe match - a special touch just for you two - so sweet! How are you going to dress your children?

    We will be wed in May, 2012 and colors are ivory, black and gold with touches of orange red.  My shoes are gold with little sparkle bows across the toes.  Our cake is chai spice cake with a lemon citrus buttercream, one layer is devil's food with champagne almond buttercream.  Hey Lisa 50, we should have a thread called "Cake and Shoes!"

    Thanks...I'm still not sure how I am going to dress the kids...
    I was thinking the flower girl would be champagne dress with brown sash...and the bridesmaids brown dresses with champagne sash?  
    But now I'm wondering if I should go ahead and add some red on the kids...It is summer and I don't want the brown to be too "fall"...what do you think?
    This color thing is hard....maybe I should just do champagne, red, and black?

    Red can be a little overwhelming.  I started with ivory, black and red and then realized how the red really just took over and dulled out the rest of the decor. 

    It all sounds really adorable.  I wouldn't worry about it looking too "fall."  Chanpagne is a hot color this year from what I saw at the Bridal Shows I went to so far this year.  Maybe you could do just a touch of the red with a jeweled brooch on the girl's sashes - you can get brooches pretty inexpensively - and a red flower on the guys?

    Yes, I wouldn't want to do too much red...maybe I'll stick to my original of brown and champgane with slight red accents.  :)
