I am finally getting settled into married life after a June 4th wedding. Our day was a perfect as it could be and we all had a wonderful time. I managed to find some time, before I get back to moving, to write my reviews this morning. Thanks again to all the ladies here for their ideas and suggestions throughout the planning.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church – A+
We fell in love with the church and the people. I had so many problems locating a church since I was not yet a member anywhere in Columbus. However, this church welcomed us with open arms. H is not Catholic but he too just loved everything about the church. I had always wanted to get married in an older style church with lots of ornate details and this one fit my vision perfectly. I had so many compliments on the service and the beauty of the church.
Doug Melvin Photography & Videographer – A+
We are still waiting to see the video but within a week of the wedding I had over 900 photos to browse. That was amazing! I gave him a list of must take photos and they really did all they could to make them possible. Doug and his wife even showed up the rehearsal just to check things out and make sure he understood the flow of the ceremony. We can’t wait to see the video!
Bella Luna Cake – A
We attended the wedding experience in the fall and tried 3 cakes. This one stood out by far when we tasted the hazelnut espresso cake. While we met with a couple less expensive bakers, H kept coming back to this one. Even though the per serving price was slightly more than some others, she did not up-charge for any of the details I requested. She even hand-piped a pattern on the cake to mimic the lace on my dress. It was gorgeous! We got lots of compliments on the cake. The only reason this did not get the + is because communication was a little slow or lacking.
TEAM DJ / Michael McSweeny – B-
After reading all the reviews and meeting people at the wedding shows, I thought TEAM DJ would be the safe way to go. I really liked the online planning tool and it really helped to organize the day. That’s where the good ends. We didn’t get to even meet the DJ until less than a month before the wedding and he showed up late and seemed unprepared. Luckily I had my PC with me so I could open up the online planner and make sure that everything was in order. On the day, it started off wrong because he didn’t play the entrance song I requested. Then I had only 5 songs on my must play list and I only heard maybe 1-2. Finally, H and I started to visit some tables after we ate and others finished up. I told the DJ to let us get through a few tables and then call us to the dance floor when it’s time for the first dance. ½ hour later and people leaving, he finally got things started after I got a couple of BMs on him.
Kelly Karsten Florals – A
Kelly is super sweet and was so accommodating. Her prices were fantastic and the flowers were beautiful. She did more than I even thought she would with the flowers at the reception. Everything was just perfect. The only negative was that the flowers were late arriving at the church so there was a bit of a rush/urgency in getting the bouts pinned on everyone.
Jessing Center – A+
We loved this venue! I knew it was the place when we saw how beautiful the surrounding grounds were and we were allowed to bring our own alcohol which saved tons. Sarah was great throughout the planning process and was always available to answer my questions. They also provide a large number of centerpieces as well which helped to save. The food by Mass Appeal was wonderful and everyone loved it. When you reserve your day, you get the venue for the whole day and you are the only ones there which kept it intimate and special for us. They also didn’t have any events the days before so we got to go over on Thursday to drop off our decorations and see the setup of the room. Sarah and Ashley took care of all the decorating.
