Rave: Food tasting at Pats Peak

Last night we went for our food tasting at Pats Peak. They essentially serve you what is being served at the events that night -- the coordinator tells you what the menu is ahead of time and you pick which weekend you want to go. They set up a private table for us downstairs in the main lodge area (party was upstairs) and it was like being in once of those movies where a rich guy rents out a whole restaurant for just the couple :) The chef personally came over and talked to us several times, making sure all our questions were answered. He's a very nice guy and very willing to work with couples to customize the menu to their wants.

The food was AMAZING and they gave us SO much of everything. The chef came out with a nice sized plate from their mediteranean display appetizer -- the artichike-spinach dip and hummus are to die for. Then 5 minutes later we get a plate with a dozen huge bacon wrapped scallops that were cooked perfectly. FI was in heaven :) Great salad (tons of veggies, high quality lettuce) and delicious rolls. Then we got to trying the main entrees -- four different ones! Veggie side was cooked perfectly -- we both hated overcooked mushy veggies and apparently so does the chef. We were so stuffed by the end of the night and there was so much food left over, but we could not eat another bite!

The best part -- I asked how many appetizers per person is typical for something like the bacon wrapped scallops. "oh, well, it depends on how many other appetizers are being served that night, but usually plan for 3-5 per person and always have extras on hand, so if people are eating them, we keep sending more out."  Wonderful :) We were talking with one of the waiters later on and asked if they ever had an issue running out of food at events (I've head several horror stories...) and he was like "oh jeez, we NEVER run out of food. Chef always plans for extra. Just tonight we served ham and had two full ones left at the end of the meal!" I am so excited for our menu now :)

We chose Pats Peak because it fits out lifestyle (we are both avid skiers) and it's very budget friendly. Everyone is so nice there and easy to work with. I haven't gotten married there yet, but I highly recommend them based on our current experiences! If anyone wants more details on the food we tried for their own reference, just let me know.

Hello. We are also gettig married at Pat's Peak in October. What are some of he other foods you tried? And how were they?

We were called once to do a tasting and it was for 9:00-9:30 at night.! What time did you end up going for your food tasting?

    Thank you in advance.

We went at 9pm. They had two events that night, so they have to serve the events first and then served us. It's a bit annoying, but we understand. We tried the London Broil with a mushroom sauce. FI thought it was great, I thought it was so-so, but I hate mushrooms :) London broil is not a great cut of meat, so that was a large part of it, but they cooked it really well. We're thinking of upgrading to the prime rib, which is a much higher quality beef. Chicken Bruschette dish was really good and we may be choosing that for our other entree. Pinot Grigio chicken was the only thing we both weren't fans of. We also were served the carved ham and FI liked that. I don't like ham, so I didn't even try that one. For sides, we were served green beans almondine -- very yummy. nce and crisp. We'll probalby choose this for our side. The potato was their garlic mashed potatoes, and also very good. If you do get a chance to go there for a tasting, go hungry. They served us WAY more food than we possibly could have eaten.

So you're getting married on Friday there? We're getting married on Sunday in the sleigh room :)
