Military Brides

Time to AW!

When I went up to visit my parents last weekend, we had a gift waiting from my godmother that she had sent to my parents' house.  We've gotten some money and gift cards as engagement gifts, but this is the first wedding-related gift, and I'm really touched!

She bought us toasting flutes!  Vera Wang "Knot of Love" by Wedgewood!!!  So beautiful, and far nicer than anything I would have purchased myself (to be honest, we probably would have just toasted with glasses from the caterer). They're not what I would have selected myself, but I do love them. And now I can keep these as an heirloom and pass them on to my future children when they get married someday.  So classic and timeless!

And I ordered our stamps for our wedding!!!  I'm using one as our return address on our invitation envelopes - obviously I can't show you guys that as it has our address on it.  But I'll show you our logo which will tell you - gasp! - our first names!  That logo will be used on coasters, on the bellyband around the invitation suite, and on various paper products throughout the wedding.

And I also ordered the flower sash that I will wear over my dress - the one at the bridal salon was $400 and was a bit too big and not quite the right color.  This one is going to match a swatch that we sent her so that it matches the color of my shoes exactly (a pale pink).  She's also making a matching flower for my hair - total cost will be $80!  A huge discount compared to the one at the bridal salon.

Here's the flower she's doing, but in pink (one on a matching pink 2" ribbon sash around 5" and one on a hair clip around 3"):

What do you have to AW today?  Wedding or non-wedding related!

I did design the logo, thank you!!!  All on Paint, too, which is no easy task and a real pain in the rear end - my father is buying the Adobe Creative Suite for his business marketing, which I handle anyway, so I'll finally have a higher quality product because I would hate to use Paint to design the STDs, invitations, etc.!

And of course you  needed to AW those tutus you spent so much time making!  SO DARN CUTE!  And wow, those women are hilarious!

Oh wow the glasses are beautiful!! I love them so much! What a great thing to have to pass down in the family now :)
The stamp is a great monogram, well done! Eek.. you're wedding is a year away from mine and I still don't have a sash for my dress yet />_< haha oops..  Way to go on all the checks! you are all over this wedding stuff. :)

um.. what do I have to aw..
I made my comb for my hair. It'll tuck behind my veil to add a little something, and then I can take off the veil for the reception and keep the little bling

I had my Hair/Makeup Trial.. Still deciding whether to do nude lip or red lip.

And got the mom's gifts in! (the peridot is for my mom, it's Fi's birthstone. and the Amethyst is for his mom and it's my birthstone. :) )

Nude lipstick... definitely nude!  Looks much more bridal, in my opinion.  And I think you look stunning in both pictures!

But you should post both pictures with a poll!  Laughing

haha Aw thanks Calindi. I did on a different board and they all decided that I should go nude for the ceremony and red for the party-time reception.  I'm still stuck. Honestly, I'll probably go nude with the intention to put red on later, and forget to bring it. Because I do that. So nude it will be haha

and FTL..i love the nude lips! even though red is very classy :) I think the nude for your wedding day is much more subtle and it doesn't make your lips the focal point. You could always do nude for the wedding and pictures then put on red for the reception :)

My poor buddy after he came home from the vet today.

They put a compression wrap on his paw where they had the IV. When we got home he #1 stuffed his face with food, then #2 started trying to peel off the wrap. I guess at least he has his priorities straight!!

My FI hates lipgloss all together.  Anything on my lips, even chapstick, drives him nuts.  He immediately (within seconds) wipes it off his lips with the back of his hand!  I do NOT want those pictures right after our first kiss!!!  So I'm going to do a lipstain instead.  I'll have to experiment a bit to find something that works, and a light gloss that doesn't piss him off too much.

Candi, the flutes are pretty! and your monogram is fantastic! Reality setting in and the date getting close! YEAH!

First, you will make a beautiful bride loved your pictures!

I was stuck in my cubicle at work today crunching numbers. My deadline to have all done is tomorrow. So while I was hard at work, the rest of the family was at the state fair. Which honesty, is okay with me since it was his family including the ex wife with her SO<<rolling my eyes />>>  While walking out the door to go to work I said enjoy your little family so the girls can be giddy once again. (long story on those 2 "grown" women. I could go on a rant for days about them) So he calls and tells me he fell getting out of the shower, saying with a laugh I jinxed him about the" family"! I told him if that was the case, he should have fell everyday since last Tuesday!Innocent

Just getting excited that my daughter and her husband will be here in a couple weeks. He will be here for a week and then out for training, while he is there my
daughter will spend 2 weeks with us! YEAH! Then off they go for their hop across the pond. BOO!!

Yesterday the grandbaby and her momma spent a few hours here so that is always a treat when I see her.(which is like 4 times a week!) She's so darn cute! I could AW on her all the time! Since she is a Veterans Day baby!Kiss

Awwww, MOB, she's ADORABLE!  I demand grandbaby pictures all the time!  So darned cute!

I have baby fever.  FI asked me yesterday if I plan on transitioning to The Bump as soon as we get married.  I reminded him we don't plan to have a baby until his training is over and we finally get to a permanent duty station (which will be sometime in 2014).  He just gave me the side eye, and I said, "Okay, yes, I'll probably start reading up on fertility and babies but just as research!"  And he chuckled.

Awwwe Candi thank you!! <smiling from ear to ear>>

For your baby fever, take two asprins and hold them between your knees! That should help.Sealed

Totaly hold off on babies and ejoy/adjust to married life before being" tied down" per say with baby. After you pass that 5 year anniversary, then go for that big "splash"!  That would be my advise.

Since DD hubby has only 8 more years left before retiring, they don;t plan on babies until he is just about ready to retire. (so they say now<crossing fingers />) I guess we will wait and see. I sure hope they do.

Maybe I will post dirty diaper pictures, that should bring your fever down too! <<laughing />> I did that once on FB, during Superbowl, last year. Since baby couldn't talk she made "artwork" in her diaper to let us know who she was rootin' for, it was green and gold! <laughing out loud now, forgot I did that!>> Some got very offended......too bad!  What makes poop purple? I need her to poop Purple and Gold for College Football this year! Surprised

Purple and gold poop?  Gross!  Though glitter does go right through you and gives you glittery poops... don't ask how I know that...

I think I'll be just fine wanting them but not having them for awhile.  He's 28 now, I'm 25, so we're in no rush.  I'd rather have them a few years in so that they're still young when he can retire.  I have no problem moving a family around the world, but I would like to keep them in once place from like 7th grade on so they can enjoy high school socializing like everyone else.  He can retire at 45 years old, so that means if we have kids when he's 31 or 32, the oldest a child would be is 14.

But yeah, the idea of trying for a baby sounds fun... and I keep telling him what a great Daddy he'll be one day... emphasis on 'one day' rather than 'soon'.

So my AW is I got my hair cut off last Friday because DH has been bugging me about it and he was supposed to deploy at the end of the month.  I love it but, his deployment got cancelled this morning.  I kinda wanted him to go so he would get the deployment itch out of his system.  Anyway.  I'm trying to decide if I want to keep my hair like this or grow it back.  WDMBT?

Calindi:  I'll ask our friends if we can send their 2 year old to Miami for a week for you to borrow.  We babysat her a month ago and she will definitely cure your baby fever!  LOL.

ETA:  Kids loooove DH and he is great with them but neither of us are ready for that yet, especially with my trying to start a military career.  With our marriage potentially going dual military it will definitely be a while til we have kids I'm sure.

I love the haircut!!!  I'm a fan of short hair myself.  I'm trying to grow it out long enough to do something with, if only sweep it back a bit, for the wedding next year.  But as soon as it touches the back of my neck, I get scissor-happy and off it all goes again!

I had a 21 month old in my house for 3 weeks just about a month ago, and he bit me and kicked and wasn't potty trained and screamed and broke things and touched everything he wasn't supposed to touch and made me realize just how much poison we have stored throughout the house ("No, you may NOT drink the Drain-o! Nope, the Clorox is off limits, too, buster!")  And yet I still have baby fever.  It ain't going nowhere 'til I got a baby of my own, unfortunately!

Sammy, LOVE the cut! I am a fan of short hair too!

I so want to get mine cut short(I grow it long and then donate it to Locs of Love) this would have been my 6th donation. I went to get it cut just Tuesday but just got the split ends cut off( 1") it;s down to the middle of my back now. The longest I have ever had it, DD didn;t want me to cut it for the wedding so I didn't  but with winter(yes I typed winter) around the corner and summer winding down I don;t want my neck to freeze so I am going to try to hold off until spring to donate it. It's driving me nuts though and yes I use that as my excuse for being nuts now.Surprised I hate when I am driving and when I go to turn my head to look at my blind spot to switch lanes my back has my hair pinned against it and the seat! HATE that!
