alterations complaint/VENT

I don't know what is going on, but I can not get ahold of Louise.  I contacted her a few months back to ask a few questions including when I should be scheduling my first dress fitting based on my wedding date.  This was all via email.  She responded very quickly and told me we should start in July.  I had 2 very prompt emails from her and had met her previously so I was excited to work with her.

Now it is July and I can't seem to get her to respond!  I have emailed her twice and called her once.  Once on July 2nd and the most recent contact attempt was this past Wed the 14th.  I have asked her if she still has time in her schedule to do my fitting and I still don't get a response.

It's not like it's a big deal.  I can have someone else alter my dress - no problem.  But why is she ignoring me?  Normally I would not give a vendor this many strikes before giving up on them, but now I am done.  I'll go someplace else.  I know she is super nice and her prices are really good, but I expect to have a response to atleast 1 out of 3 contacts.  Very disappointing.

I would try calling her one more time...from my experience (and from others I've read on here) she doesn't always respond well to emails.  I don't think she is purposely ignoring you.  Before my second or third fitting, I had called her to reschedule and left a message...I hadn't heard back in a few days and I just called again.  She's probably really busy (especially now, it's the middle of the busy season) and sometimes she's a little scattered (but she has so many brides to keep track of)...but she is completely worth it.

I understand your frustration but I also hate to see you give up on her and the savings/experience from it!!

She never responded to any of my emails and the times i called during the day she sounded rushed and said she was with clients and does fittings from 9am to 9pm so the best time to call her is before 9am or after 9pm. So i called her at 8:00am one morning and reintroduced myself and she was like- Oh gosh was I supposed to call you back? Im sorry I am swamped. But i told her no, i had told her i would call her back at a time before 9am, Anyway she was super nice and had time to talk and set up an appt. So if you decide to give her one more try i would call before 9am or after 9pm. One way to look at it is that at least you know when you are there being fitted you have her undivided attention, because she is not answering the many calls she must get throughout the day.

I agree, I would try calling one more time. The first time I called her I didn't hear back for a few days, so I tried again and she picked up. As soon as I said my name she said she was so glad I had called back because the message I left wasn't understandable on her machine, so the phone number she wrote down wasn't correct. I was just talking to her this morning about rescheduling an appointment and she picked up right away when I called. I think that was around 8:30am. She's seriously worth one more try! And she is so busy and swamped, but she gives you undivided attention when you are there and she manages to get all of the alterations done on time!

Keep calling.  She is very busy.  I went there in May/June and the phone would ring while we'd be there and she didn't answer it because she putting pins in my dress and paying attention to me.  Once I got ahold of her and schedule an appt I always scheduled my next appt while I was there with her because she probably would not have answered her phone.  She is so nice and just like everyone says she makes you feel like you're the only bride.

she's so fabulous, don't give up on her!  Like everyone else, I found that calling her was best.  If she doesn't answer and you leave a message, then she'll call you back quickly.  GL!

I'm going to play the bad guy and say if you want to go somewhere else than do it. I haven't been to her but sometimes no matter how good they are it doesn't make up for it. But I'm kinda stubborn that way :)

I think I'm going to call her one more time Monday morning before 9am and see what happens.  I'm just a little nervous about her follow-through now.  We'll see what happens.  :)

I kinda agree with Shan. Wedding planning is stressful enough as it is...

I suggest calling her again.  If anyone has a complaint about Louise, it's that she doesn't email very quickly.  I always called either really early (on my way to work) or over my lunch break, and I was usually able to get ahold of her on the phone.  Louise was one of my favorite vendors, and I think that once you start moving up in the que (i.e. your wedding gets closer), you'll get a little more star treatment.

That brings up another question.  How long does it generally take to alter a wedding gown?  Maybe I'm looking into this too early.  I think I'm around 75 days away.

She had me bring my dress in 6 weeks before our wedding.  I went there 4 times.  The first time I brought it in at 6 weeks, the the next week (so 5 weeks out), then a week before the wedding and then 3 days before the wedding.

I am in the same boat as you. I'm sure that she is great, but it seems that she is just far more busy than she is able to handle. After calling several times, leaving messages, talking to her and being told that she would call me back, emailing, and not recieving a response, I gave up. I don't care how great or reasonably priced someone is, I would rather spend more and go somewhere just as great and get it done rather than dilly dallying around.

Don't give up!  She is worth it, I promise.

I emailed her at first and never got a response.  Closer to NEEDING to get the dress altered, I called her.  I never had a problem with getting her to answer though.  But I do agree with a PP... her phone NEVER stops ringing.  And if she is super busy that day with fittings, she cannot answer the phone.

You won't regret being a little more patient.  I promise.  She's wonderful.
