Alterations--two pairs of shoes

I have to pairs of shoes. The plan is to wear the heels for the ceremony and my chuck-style sneaks for the reception. Now that I set up my appointment for alterations I am starting to wonder how that is going to work. If I get my dress hemmed for heels I will be stepping on it at the reception but if I get it hemmed for the sneaks it will be too short for the ceremony. I am considering just wearing the sneaks for everything but really wanted to wear my heels too. Any suggestions?

Re: Alterations--two pairs of shoes

  • Have your dress hemmed for whatever shoes you are wearing for the ceremony and pictures.

I wore heels through most of the wedding but eventually took them off and put on a pair of ballet flats borrowed from one of my bridesmaids. My dress then dragged the ground but I wasn't tripping over it or anything. It wasn't a close-fitting gown, though.
  • How about the ceremoney shoes and then a cool pair of wedge flip flops that will keep t he height without feeling like heels?

I actually got these in black to check them out, if you like flip flops these are the way to go.  I am going to get the white ones now!

Comfort is soooo important on such a long day!
  • That's not a bad idea but I'm not a big fan of the wedge flip flops. And I LOVE my sneaks!

  • I have the same issue, I have 5in heals for ceremony and 2in for reception that I may even change to flip flops. I went for my fitting last week and my dress is going to be altered so that the front is busseled so that the hem is not changed but there are bussels put in so that the front of my dress can actually be raised and lowered with my heals. Then the back of my dress will also be busseled with a ballroom bussel. Hope this helps it worked great with my dress.
  • Maybe you could find some sneaker with heels, they are much confortable that actual heels...
