Vendor Reviews-- Long :)

Flowers: Artistry in Bloom
Though pricy they were even better than I could imagine. My bouquet was exactly how I wanted it and the bridesmaids bouquets were fantastic. We used baseballrose non decorated bouts and had Debbie Davis at Artistry in bloom put greenery around them.

Hair: On the Go Hair Designs Heather Prejean
I cant say enough good things about her. We started doing hair at 12:30 and she did 6 updos (including myself) and my mother which was a curl and pin of the front to be ready by 4. She is amazing and very affordable. Most of the updos were 30 dollars. She goes to you so there is no worry of going to a salon in the morning. She does have a small salon in her home to do a trial. She charged 20 dollars for that I believe. She was absolutly fantastic!

Makeup: MadMakeup Madeline Hamilton
Though pricey she is worth every penny. She started at 12 and got 8 of us done including myself for 4:00. She also travels where you are so convienent. Between her use of primer, setting powder and setting spray my makeup did not smuge which is amazing because it was hot. Everyone looked made up but not un-natural. Even my ladies that never wear makeup were so beatiul. She has a great eye and very talented.

Photography: Reed Allen Photography
Reed and his assistant Darren were very affordable. They were very easy to work with, had great suggestions and also worked well with the changes of plans last minute with where we were taking photos. I already know he got some great shots, he sent me some previews. I will get the copyright so I can print my own. I highly reccomend him

DJ: DJ Lil J Jenny Letendree
She did a fantastic job. She is a local dj and has experience with club djing (like the Pier in OOB) and special mixes for the dance studio she works for. So this was her first wedding. She gave us exactly what we wanted! She did the music for the ceremony and reception. She took some requests and kept the 70s going at the end for all of the parent age people that were boogieing down at 10:30! We couldnt have asked for a better DJ!

Ceremony Location: Laurel Hill chapel
The location was very cheap (200 dollars) and very easy to get in and decorate. Though small it was a very pretty little chapel and somehow fit about 100 people inside. I am happy

Reception Venue: The Captains Galley
Generally I am very happy! The only hiccup was when I was told that I could hang ribbons on the chandaliers on the thursday beore the wedding and when I called the people in charge at the time were confused, it took me 45 min to finally talk to the owner. Once we got into the ballroom it took me my husband and his cousin a total o 15 min once we got in there to hang the ribbons. It was because the wedding person dianne wasnt there. On Saturday morning and during the reception I was more than happy. Dianne set up all the tables iI just had to show her one, i laid everything out and she was great at decorating the way i wanted it. The food was warm and good, the staff was nice and it was an overall good experence with the Captains Galley. I would def reccomend it, just make sure you always talk to Dianne.

Uplighting: DJ Greg Young of NorthEast DJ's
I had fallen in love with uplighting since the begining of my wedding research. I thought I was going to buy and diy but sent out a round o 5 or 6 emails to rent uplighting here in Maine and he was the only one to respond. He was very proffesional and easy to get ahold of. Emailing back and forth until we got the right locations for pickup and the number of uplighting. He was very very affordable for uplighitng and it really made my reception venue pop. I highly reccomend him.

Limo: Lillys Limosine
It was a 20 person limo and it was great to fit bridal party, paretns and photographers into it. They were on time and very good with the little changes we made on the spot. We asked him to pick up my in-laws which was on the way and he just needed the address, we also changed photo locations because of traffic and he was very good with the change (most likely much happier). He was very good in the Old Orchard beach traffic.

Ok ladies tell me if i forgot something but a lot of the other things are diy or family made like my mom making my dress and my inlaws making the cake.

Pictures will come soon! I will be getting them the end of this week or the beginging of next week. I wish you all luck <3

thanks for taking the time to post reviews. it sounds like you had an awesome day! i went to a wedding at the captain's galley several years ago and I thought it was beautiful. Can't wait to see pictures!
  • I'm looking into having our wedding reception at the Captain's Galley. I found your review to be very helpful. I can't wait to get there and check out (we are going in a couple of weeks). Do you have any pictures of your reception that you could post to see how the hall looked while decorated?
