*waves* newb here...reception venue help!

Hi all, I'm new to the boards. I'm an early planner (well I'm more in the research stage right now). We dont have a set date but I predict it will be early '12 at this point. I know I have plenty of time to figure this out but I've been researching reception venues all day: Im looking for an indoor reception venue with a price range of about $40-55/person. All the places I have found thusfar have been $100+ /person which is completely out of budget. Just wondering if anyone has found anything in the N. Phx or Scottsdale area within or close to this price range while researching? Thanks for any help. M

p.s. if youre wondering about the join date, we are a couple that have been together for quite a long time (we met very young) & have been planning to get married for a long time.

There are many venues in Scottsdale/N. PHX that are within your price range.

What type of setting are you looking for?
How many people do you want to have?

With some of those questions we can narrow down some of the choices for you.  I looked mostly at golf courses; below are some that come to mind.

I am getting married at Starfire at Scottsdale CC.  It is within your price range but can only hold 90 people.  Pricing is on the internet.

Eagle Mountain Golf Course is within your range.  Pricing is on the internet.

I'm getting married in Fountain Hills, and I looked at basically all the venues available in the town.

I had a horrible experience attempting to view Eagle Mountain Golf Club. Also, they have great  views, but their reception pavilion is somewhat small. They claim it can hold 120, but I just can't imagine how that's possible.

I'm getting married at Sunridge Canyon Golf Club. It's beautiful, has views of 4 peaks and great food. We're planning for 120 people, but it could easily hold 150 or more. Dinners range from $27-$43 per person, depending on how many entrees you offer. We're having a fabulous dinner of prime rib, a pasta station, two types of salads, garlic bread, asparagus and potatoes for $36 per person. Passed apps are $3 per selection, drinks are $4-$7 per drink, based on consumption.

The "drawback" (if you consider it one) is that you have to do everything outside. Ceremony is in front of a lake, cocktail hour is on a separate patio (partially covered) and the reception is under a covered pavilion.

The ceremony fee is $5 per guest for chairs/set-up, there's no reception rental fee.

Brian, the coordinator, is absolutely fantastic. I've only just started working with him, but I can rave already. He's so willing to do practically whatever we want to make our day perfect.

I also looked at The Radisson at Fort McDowell (great resort, my guests are going to stay there) for $70-$80 per person, Firerock Country Club for about $50 per person, CopperWynd for $90 per person and Eagle Mountain (such a bad experience that I don't know what the prices are.)

Hi there! Congrats on your engagement!

The only place I can think of right now is the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale. It's a nice place and has both indoor and outdoor venues. I'm pretty sure it is  also in your price range.

Hope That Helps at least a little bit!

I agree about Starfire Scottsdale Country Club.  I also really liked McCormick Ranch.  I think their dinners are within that range, but they do have a food and beverage minimum, so if you do not have a large guest list, you may have to spend more than that per person in order to meet their minimum.

We're getting married at Starfire in November too. You have use of the lawn and both indoor dining areas so there's plenty of space.
