Venue for Engagement Party - modern/lounge feel - Rockville, MD

Hi there, I am looking for a place to hold my engagement party, and I would like to keep it close to the North Potomac, Gaithersburg, Rockville area. I fell in LOVE with the Rockville Rooftop in Rockville Towne Square, but their rental fee is sooo expensive. The cool thing is, they throw in the dance floor and lounge furniture. But, I would have to get a caterer also.

So now.... I am lookin for a place around the area, no rental fee, I guess a restaurant type space would work but I want it to have a modern/lounge type feel. I am all for a rental space and caterer, but 3K for a rental fee is too much. Any ideas?

    do you definitely want to keep it in maryland? are there any other restaurants up wisconsin ave or over in the bethesda area that might work?

    if you're willing to spread out a bit, i recommend panache in tysons. we had our engagement party there last april and my girls are actually looking at it again for my bridal shower. it's got that lounge/modern feel and can hold a lot of people. if you have it on a saturday evening, they'll probably waive the minimum. we only spent $1200 for essentially open bar and hor d'ouerves for 3 or 4 hours for almost 30 people.

    i'm into the modern/lounge look as well so i feel your pain on trying to find an affordable venue that fits within budget!
