Wedding Night Hotel Accomodations/After Party

Hi NOLA Knotties,

In lieu of a fourth hour at the wedding reception, FI and I decided that we would like to have an after-party in a bar with just some of our closest friends following the reception. We'd like to offer a 200-300 dollar bar tab and when that runs out people can opt to continue the party on their own dime.

Ideally, we'd like this to take place either in a bar at the hotel where we'll be staying that night or within very very short walking distance of the hotel (so when we can retreat to our own "after party" when we're ready).  We'd prefer a CBD /Canal Street hotel to a Quarter hotel (they feel newer and less haunted).

I am having trouble coming up with hotels that are the right blend of luxury (in terms of the rooms) and affordability (in terms of the hotel bar).   I want our bar tab to go a long way so places like the Carousel Bar, Swizzle Stick Bar, Loa, etc. are probably not going to work.  Does anyone know of any bars in nice hotels that are reasonable?  Or any reasonable bars within a very short walk of nice hotels?

We are staying at the Hilton Riverside. Its right across the street from Harrahs Casino but they are probably pricey for drinks. Its also walking distance to Lucys and Ernst Cafe which are both fun places that are reasonably priced. Hope this helps!

    Happy Planning!

I second the Hilton Riverside location! That bride in D.C. knows her stuff.

The cheapest drinks in the FQ are at The Chart Room.  Your $200-$300 bar tab will go a long way and it's only a two block walk to the New Orleans Marriott on Canal Street.  If you have never been there, I must forewarn it is not the cleanest place but we always have a blast there
