Oahu Brides!!

Just wanting to see some Oahu brides on here!! That way we can all chat about our awesome big days approaching!

I am getting married November 27, 2011 on the beautiful island. Still debating on the exact location right now, but we really want something on the North Shore. My uncle lives there and the last time that we were there, we knew we wanted to get married there.

So ladies, let us get to know each other!

Hi, and welcome to the Knot!  I am getting married in Maui, but I have seen a lot of girls use Loulu Estates for their wedding.  It's a beautiful estate and I think it is on the North Shore, but can't be sure.  There will definitely be Oahu Knotties who can help a lot more than me, but I thought I'd share that location.  Good luck in your planning and welcome - this site is amazing for us destination brides!!

Hi fellow oahu bride! Your wedding day is my 27th birthday - golden birthday! :)
I'm marrying at a private mini mcmansion i found on Vrbo.com. I recently found a knottie bio of this pretty little blonde who got married at these nice little bungalow cottages in the north shore, let me see if I can find a link to her somehow.

We are getting married in October 2011 at Lanikuhonua and we juuuuust LOVE it! Its exactly what we were looking for. Annette in their offices is fabulous and I have had RAVE reviews from all of my vendors regarding the property.

I am a lurker Oahu bride :) getting married on September 24, 11 at a private home in the Portlock area. I also looked into Kualoa Ranch Hale Molii when I was doing my research. Not quite the North Shore, but close. I LOVED the Sunset Ranch! But my family thinks asking my guests to drive out to the North Shore is too far. So pretty out there though!

Aloha fellow Oahu bride! My wedding is on May 6th at Honolulu Country Club. A friend of the family's daughter recently got married at Waimea Falls. I guess they have a nice pavillion there for the reception, too. She loved it and the pictures were gorgeous. Plus, I'm not sure if you're local, but I think they give Kama'aina discounts :) Always a plus.

Wow! Thanks to all of you who responded!! I am definitely taking all of your comments into consideration, and it is really a huge help. As I mentioned, we want to get married on the North Shore, so your suggestions are great!!!

I will keep posted on things that I plan on doing or at least WANT to do around that time, and get everyone's advice!!

I really want to have my ceremony just on the beach somewhere on the North Shore. I don't really want to be at a resort or something like that. And since we are having our reception the week before we get married, we don't have to worry about any of that. Just a sweet ceremony on the beach.

    Any suggestions for that??

Oh, and we want to have dinner right after our ceremony with our family and friends that will be there. Where would be some good places for that??? The last time that we were in Hawaii, we went to the Polyneisian Culture Center, and we had a blast. Would that be good for an after ceremony meal?

    Thanks again ladies!!!

I'll be getting married at Sunset Ranch on Sept 10, 2011.  It's soooo tranquil and isolated up there and you can make just about as much noise as you want.  You get use of the entire property all day for a flat rate.  The owner, Greg, is awesome!  He is very flexible and won't lock you into using any vendors.  That was really important to us.  The trick will be using the property to its max.... so many little nooks that I want to use!

Aloha!  We are getting Married on the East side of Oahu, so I won't be much help for a location on North Shore for you.  I have heard that Haleiwa Joe's garden location is a great place to eat and it isn't too far from the North Shore though..  We're sure going to try it anyway : )

Oh, I LOVE Haleiwa anyway. If I ever moved to Hawaii, I would move there. So I have thought about going there to dine for sure!!! I'm really excited about everything, and it's so great to hear from all of you!

    Thanks ladies!!

I am getting married at Lanikuhonua.  They are awesome to deal with; informative, friendly, responsive and helpful.

Two very good friends were married at Loulu Palms and did NOT recommend it.  There were so many issues the day of the wedding.  When I called to see if dates were available I spoke to 2 people, each told me different dates that were available.  Uhhhhhhhhhhh.  It seemed like a very poorly run operation.  Although they had the date I wanted, I decided to avoid the trouble based on my two friends' warnings.

Kualoa Ranch was very affordable compared to Lanikuhonua.  Not as polished, but still beautiful.  It's on the rainy side of the island, so I decided to go with Lani to avoid any chance of rain.  The event guy took us on a tour and he was great.  Then he told me that the wedding coordinator would call me and she didn't.  Each time I called, she either wasn't working or wasn't at her desk and it would take her days to call back.  I decided that working with them just wasn't worth it either.  But I would pick Kualoa Ranch over Loulu Palm any day.  Oh --- something to keep in mind.  If you pick an outdoor venue, you need to rent all of your tents, chairs, tables, etc.  Loulu Palm now REQUIRES that you use a particular vendor. Although this vendor has great things, they are one of the most expensive rental places on the island.  Something to keep in mind.

Thanks for all the info! See, we are not sure that we are planning to do any of the renting on tables and chairs, etc. Only because our ceremony is going to be SO small and quaint, that we will not need all of that. But thanks for the heads up about the other locations. We are still not 100 percent on whether we want a planner or not, but we will be looking into them just in case.

We really want our ceremony location to be in Haleiwa, so we need to search for locations on the beach around there. It's such hard work!! LOL

What about Haleiwa Joe's restaurant? At least for Catering? They are by a dock.  It's not on the beach/water, but really close (across the street).

You might think about renting out a restaurant on the beach.  None come to mind, off the top of my head.

You could also see if you could rent out a beachhouse - check VRBO.com.   If it's a small intimate event, that might be your best bet.  Loulu Palm is the only private estate I know of on the north shore that actually "specializes" in weddings, other than Turtle Bay.  Turtle Bay is really pretty, by the way.
    Good luck?

Thank you!! I am most definitely going to check those places out that were suggested!! Joe's restaurant was recommended a couple of times, so I am going to have to look into that one.

And VRBO.com, I have never heard of before, so I am looking forward to finding more out about that.

    Thanks!!
