What To Do?

The venue I booked over a year ago just recently got investigated for a food poisoning outbreak!  Not to mention, the girl handling the hotel part of the venue has blown me off not once, but twice!  I'm starting to get a really bitter taste in my mouth!  My (hopefully still) date is 10/7/2011, and I think I may not have enough time to find another venue and may be stuck with the one I've got! When I booked the venue, I had a TOTALLY different view of the place than I do now... I had actually dreamed about having my wedding there before I was even engaged!  What's a girl to do?  Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear this, what does your contract say? Unfortunately, I think that will dictate how you can get out of using them for a venue, etc. If you're set on changing venues I would start looking at places now to see what may be available. What area are you in? Perhaps we can offer suggestions. GL.

You have time. My venue cancelled on me a couple of weeks ago- and I only have three months left. We found a ton of other places that were still available for our day.

I'm sorry to hear that! My advice would be to try to speak with the hotel manager. See what they can do for you. They should at the very least be able to offer you an explanation of the charges and tell you what they are doing to stop it from happening again. You may even be able to get a free ugrade out of it. If you don't mind me asking, which venue are you using? I want to make sure that I stay away from that one.

    First, BREATHE!
Second, you can still find a venue...I agree with PP.
I would call one more time and if not, i would show up there and demand a response.

Thanks to all who have responded so far.... I am in Orange County and would like to stay here if at all possible... I am going next week to Falkirk Estate and Country Club to check that out... but I would definitely entertain other ideas!

There's the Mansion Ridge Golf Course (Monroe, off Orange Tpke), but I believe they only accomodate about 80 people. There's also a golfcourse in Middletown/Wallkill, but at the moment the name has slipped my mind...
    Good luck!
