Favorite music (non-mainstream)

Okay, so I want to add some stuff to my iPod and I figured you ladies might have some good suggestions for me.  Who are some of your favorite artists?  I also enjoy kickass instrumental movie soundtracks, like 300 and Lord of the Rings, if you have any to suggest as well.  Thanks!

    I love Imogen Heap.  She's awesome in concert if you ever get a chance to see her.

    My current favorite is Frank Turner.    He's going on tour in the fall with Social Distortion and Lucero, to give you an idea of his sound.  Love, Ire and Song is a great album by him.

    You should also check out the Lost soundtracks. The music is fantastic.

    Arb, I would love to see her in concert.  I completely forgot about the Lost soundtracks!  I have them all on my iPod but completely overlooked them when making my original list for some reason.  They are fantastic. 

    Alix, yes Darren Hayes is from Savage Garden.  I wasn't a huge Savage Garden fun but I love Darren Hayes.

    Mandy, i think OLP is mainstream in Canada, but not really the US. But I might be wrong. I grew up near the border, listening to radio on both sides, so my music knowledge is sometimes skewy. Like that time I asked if people in the US know who Barenaked Ladies are and Fishy made fun of me.

    I definitely second the person who said "Niko Case/the New Pornographers"
    My favorite band is either The National or Frightened Rabbit (they have an amazing scottish accent!)

    No, you're right. I always mash the spelling up with Nico in my head, so I never know how either is spelled.
